In the middle of installing Soundstage, the prompt to install the device driver already had “Don’t install” preselected. When programs prompt to install a driver, they often cause a BSOD soon after, so I have stopped installing them unless it is explained that the driver is necessary for the program to work. That may be the case here because when the install completed, attempting to start the program failed. It never started or presented a message, just zilch, nothing happened.
Is the driver necessary? If so, what exactly does it do?
