Franzis of course has no problem, we can reinstall on demand – either keep the email sent that contains registration information, save that email as a file next to the Franzis installation file, and or ask for our personal code again during installation, or visit Franzis, sign in, and retrieve our licenses.

Any program that does not reinstall after the day of the giveaway may be intentionally controlled by the vendor, each vendor is different, and many seem to choose to make their giveaway work only on the day of the giveaway, as that reduces the potential perennial number of unintentional copies being shared and installed forever without the vendor getting the benefits of a customer relationship.

Luckily, some programs without a “pro” license still work in an always-free mode with only some “pro” features disabled – most utilities work this way – so we can reinstall or upgrade and get most of what we want.

Alternatively we can contact each vendor and plead our case, some may issue a new code or re-authorize our old code – remember, they are after customer relationships for the long term.

I prefer “licenses” to be with me, not my computer, such that I can install and use a program wherever I am, even on my next computer ( for example, I have a nice panorama rear-view mirror in my car, and I take it with me from car to car, and even use it in rental and loaner cars, to have to buy one for each car I leave behind, and leave the mirror behind, would be inappropriate in my view, so to speak ).

Some vendors are exploring having their programs be a web-based and accessible by sign-in regardless of the device we use, but that’s too slow for me, and I am averse to trust my stuff loaded to the web, in this case with 20,000+ digital image files, often manipulating a whole series of 150+ MB images ( scanned artwork ).

Though I recommend a variety of ways to fix a sloggy corrupted Windows computer, without losing our installed licensed programs, I agree that reinstalling the operating system is a brief and reliable way to “fix” it … and also replacing the computer altogether works, too ( if you can find Windows 7 64 Pro computers, otherwise we have to blank the boot drive and install our own Windows 7 64 Pro ).

Windows 3 used to reinstall without losing prior installed programs and licenses, for some reason, Microsoft has not made that capability a requirement of their programmers – if anyone knows how to “refresh” the operating system AND keep installed programs in place, please do share – FREE [ Tweaking. com ] Windows Repair AIO is as close as I’ve experienced ( a free Pro version would be a terrific offering here at SOS ! ).

    – – – – –

But there is no problem with today’s software – Franzis rightly keeps their license relationship with a person, not with a computer, so we can always reinstall our own Franzis licenses anywhere anytime.

If we did not know that, now we do.

    – – – – –

Most importantly, please try today’s offering and participate with the vendor and with our peeps here at SOS to make SOS the go-to place for technically savvy insight on new programs, where vendors love to show up and participate in the conversation and learn as much as possible from our shared experience.

    In that vein,

    – I like the results of Franzis software,
    – I do not like the process
    – – in that it’s not quick,
    – – not often batchable,
    – – and it does not integrate different Franzis programs together when both are right there on my computer.

    I compare to

    — FREE Google Picasa which has a depth of features and is missing only certain specialities like lens correction, focus stacking, local adjustment, layers, cut-and-paste in-picture elements,

    — FREE IrfanView, also with an abundance of features,

    — FREE Adobe Photoshop, there are version from 5 to CS2 available, even from Adobe, web search for them, this is where local adjustments are instantly available.

Now that I think of it, does ANY Franzis software have local adjustments?

I think of Franzis software as one-trick-ponies,
and I seldom explore Franzis programs after the one day of offering and exploring,

defaulting back to free Picasa, IrfanView, and Photoshop for the benefits of their immediately accessible features.

    What are other folks experiencing?

    Thanks.
    .

    Mr. Blaze,
why the address, place of work and telephone number are required when registering the Color Project 5 program from Franzis. Isn’t this an attempt to steal personal information!
