No code was offered. I checked every where. I thank you for offering this. However, it didn’t work out this time. Please remove this offer to prevent others from wasting their time as I did. I don’t know who messed up, whether it was Sharewareonsale or Spideroak. In the future, please offer this again. It is too bad it didn’t work out this time. I am not complaining. Sharewareonsale has saved me so much money, this small inconvenience can be easily overlooked. Before I just typed this last sentence, I double checked, and yes, there is no code offered. P.S. I keep failing those catchas. It take me about 15-20 of them to pass. I won’t be back to respond.

What happens to the pricing when you renew this after a year?

Does it stay at $39/year, or go up to the ‘normal’ price for 1 TB of storage?

“For the typical home user on a regular DSL/Broadband connection, data uploads to SpiderOak 1 GB per hour, or 24 GB per day.”

This is not a lowball estimate. Using the free 100GB trial, this is accurate. 1GB per hour. There is no way in hell a 1TB plan would be worth it for $40, let alone when they start asking $130 a year later. pCloud offers twice this for $95.88 a year, with way, WAY faster upload speeds. 10GB an hour, easily. And that’s a non-promotional deal that won’t ever go up. The one thing SpiderOak has over pCloud is there’s no trashed files deletion timer. SpiderOak keeps it forever (though it counts against your space I believe) and pCloud will delete it within 30 days.

This just isn’t a good deal, save your money.

I do like that SpiderOak allows syncing from ANY folder, not just one (plus subfolders) the way my current Dropbox does. And I also like their versioning feature, although Dropbox does keep a few versions back as well.

I know there’s at least one relatively expensive aftermarket utility (Boxifier) that allows Dropbox to sync any folder, as well as various schemes using Symbolic Links to fool Dropbox, but those all seem cumbersome and disaster prone to me – it’s relatively easy to delete a symbolic link and have the folder to which it points magically deleted as well.

At $40 a year for 1TB, I’d give SpiderOak a try, but that $130 a year after the first year ‘trial’ is a killer for me.
