    @Dennis Nelson
    RAR is a proprietary format and only WinRAR and programs licensed by RarLab can create RAR archives.

    Is the above in reply to my question?

    I am asking if the program can be installed on a flash drive (i.e., “portable”) or if it must be installed directly onto a PC. The reason for my question is that I have a PC which is inoperable at present and since the software has a 1-computer restriction, I do not want to install it on my laptop when the much greater need is on my PC.

    Hi,

    I have installed and registered, but the registration does not stick. When I quit, relaunch and go to the Register menu, the product key is not there anymore.

    Yesterday, the registration stuck, although there was no mention of “Registered software”. Similarly, today, I see no mention of “Unregistered software”.

    Also, is it compulsory to type a user name ? Thank you.

    @Clarivaus,

    As most everyone knows, sensible programs do not show the “Register” button or the “Buy Now” buttons after a program has been registered. If the registration expires at some point, then it makes sense to show them when that happens. So, why does a program need to “always” show the Register and Buy Now buttons? In hopes that it might cause you to think you have not registered or paid for a program. Some applications even remove the legally registered values as soon as you you click these buttons. In cases where there is a limited time to register the software, if you click on these types of buttons at some point after registration, you may lose your registration. Any time I see a program not show that a program is registered, and especially those that do not remove these buttons after registration, I start to wonder just how honest they are, and when there are alternatives, I generally lean towards recommending them instead.

    Problem with Ultimate Zip : it’s not high DPI-aware, or at least not completely.

    On my setup (24″ monitor, 1920 x 1200 resolution, Windows 7 Display at 150 %, Use Windows XP-style DPI Scaling = Yes), the ribbon interface is so tiny it’s useless. Fortunately, there’s an option for a classical menu interface which displays correctly, but several dialog boxes have text which is either exceedingly small, or cropped-out horizontally, which severely reduces usability.

    Workarounds welcome, if any exist.
