Did you have 5.8 installed previously?
I had a previous version of WinToUSB and when I installed this giveaway it asked if I wanted to uninstall the previous version – which I said yes to.
But when I started the program the version number was still the previous version that I had.
So I manually uninstalled the previous version and then the install worked correctly and it is version 6.1Managed to install 6.1, but although the exe was for WinToUSB Professional 6 it appears to install the free version and there is no activate option
After the year is up, will I still be able to use whatever Windows version I have on the USB?

Yes, you’re right, there no difference between that version and the free one.
I have “unpacked” the exe with Universal extractor, and I found the 32 and 64 bit softwares in the extracted folder. Both are free versions and no difference with the installed one which is supposed to the licenced software.Fix:
Well, in fact, there is a difference … I think if we don’t see this difference, it’s because we have already installed a version of WinToUsb in the past. I just uninstalled WinToUsb and I launched the portable version that I had extracted earlier: and at that moment, I had a mention which said to me “non commercial use only”: and I had the option to register the software with the key provided.
But in the end, that doesn’t change anything. With license or without license, for an individual, the usage is exactly the same!OK, here is the skinny on what I believe is happening. Briefly, when one installs the new freebie, it asks to UN-install the prior version. If you give it the ‘okey,doke’, version 6.1 (Build: Jul 6 2021) will be installed. But, what one may not have been told (Ashraf?) is that the new installation will grab your prior license and install with it activated because the code recognizes the earlier registration number. Right. There is no difference between the FREE freebie and this freebie EXCEPT that it is now registration activated.
That is my best guess.

Looks like (perhaps) great minds think alike?Am I supposed to be able to run Windows off a usb flash drive like you can run linux off a live cd? If so, all I get is the spinning circle that never stops when I boot from the usb flash drive.

Substantial comment’s re whether this is the professional 6.1, but for only 1 computer (now on 6.2) as represented or free. (Their site indicates a substantial difference!) Please confirm that it’s professional.
