I spoke on chat with a tech online at PCkeeper, here is the chat:
    Eugene Kim
    Please describe your issue
    You
Shareware on sale is a site that gives away some software, I assume with the cooperation of the software maker. This antivirus is one such software but it is not giving the key to install and anything you try won’t work. http://sharewareonsale.com/s/pckeeper-antivirus-pro-sale#comment-1685242
    You
I provided the link to the site offering the antivirus
    You
    are you there?
    You
    HELLO
    You
it says you’re online. are you there?
    You
you can at least come online and tell me you can’t resolve the issue. It says you’re here so you are ignoring me?
    You
the software site gives us a chance to try the software, and it looks like I don’t want to even bother if this is how customer service is. won’t be buying it anytime soon
    Eugene Kim
Thank you for contacting Kromtech Customer Support Department.
    Eugene Kim
sorry though this is offer is not related to use. we are currently working on this issue. we do not provide free software. sorry
    You
what issue, and why would they offer this if it weren’t true?
    You
so I should go back to the site and post this, that it really isn’t a free giveaway?
    Eugene Kim
all offers that are not from our web site might not be true, since it’s not posted from our official website
    Eugene Kim
no. this is not a giveaway

is this antivirus a real FREE giveaway or not? everything followed to the “t” and there is no license, and by all appearences it isn’t even a giveaway. And someone here was right, if it’s free you shouldn’t have to click wire, paypal or anything. The email from cleverbridge says it won’t deliver the product till PAYMENT IS MADE. It’s suppose to be FREE!!
Ashraf, tell us what to do to get this if it is indeed free. It’s expired now but I and many others followed the instructions prior to it expiring.

Can you help me the url string of the page that follows is https://store.zeobit.com/767/?scope=confirmation&transaction=kuZ2rrPkX9&id=kRXbPKOpoL, and it doesn’t look right it looks like an official(ish) Bank wire transfer confirmation. Which doesn’t make sense, as (from what I gather) this is a giveaway, no one, anywhere, should have to pay anything (right)?

PS. This happened when there was [quite] precisely 4 hours and 15 minutes left, so “DON’T tell me it’s not a good offer”.

[@Wareitwell] The difference, the file we gave you doesn’t come with bloatware; the file from that link you shared comes with bloatware. I uploaded the download to Mediafire (we use that as a hosting mirror often) because I couldn’t find a direct download link for a non-bloatware version on the developer’s website — it has nothing to do with the developer.

    [@smoothsand] [@Wareitwell] Thanks for assisting fellow SoS’ers!

[@QuGh] Still can’t get it to work?

[@Wareitwell] I don’t have a direct download for the full installer, sorry :-(

Considering that you were decent enough to advertise this free offer, I don’t want to ask more questions than are enough, but why are the hashmarks (sha1 and sha256) different for the PCKeeperInstaller.exe file that I downloaded from the link here, and the file that’s downloaded from the official site:

    http://pckeeper.zeobit.com/download-av

They’re both the exact same size and the same version #. The link provided by Sharewareonsale is using Mediafire as a host, though, and not the author’s site. Is this so the vendor can identify which giveaway site is issuing the coupon offer?

  11. Wareitwell

    Reply to this comment#25

    [@QuGh]

After applying for the same offer on Windowsdeal.com, and seeing the 11 digit coupon code, W****W****L, I realized that I saw that same coupon code here before clicking the buy now button. I was under the assumption that although we weren’t giving any personal information other than email address and possibly zip code, that PCkeeper, through Cleverbridge would be sending a unique serial to each individual. I wasn’t aware that everyone got the same, very simple, coupon code (I also thought it would say “serial #”). Does everyone get the buy now button and click it or is it rare?

That said, is there any direct download of the full program so that I may extract the exe program and see what bloated offers are in there, if any? All the links we get are for an internet installer, which always makes me wary of the program..

@QuGH, @Wareitwell…. You need to tick the box stating ” I confirm I read or agreement with the license……etc” then you’ll get the email on the activation key. This box is on the left hand side of your screen just above the “Buy Now” button

I selected Paypal, typed in my name and email address, and checked the terms box. When I click “buy now”, after a few seconds, I get a manually processing delayed message with a reference #. Then I get an email from cleverbridge.com that states:

Payment not authorized. We regret to inform you that your order could not be processed with the data you provided for payment.

[@- bill] Let us know if you find out.

    [@Mardel53] Welcome!

[@Beckie] Welcome! Nope, I don’t use it myself.

[@Sam456] Thank you for the kind words and understanding my frustrations with some people.

    [@oldtimer3] Welcome!

[@Bill] Welcome! And, yeah, the Asshole Ashraf is awoken by some people. I’d like to think they deserve it but sometimes I may snap at the innocent. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh

[@Becky] You would have to completely uninstall it but, honestly, if you are happy with Avira then why get this?

[@Fedor] Did you test it? If so, let us know what you think.

[@Wareitwell] What did you select while checking out?

I think you might have to fully uninstall Avira, but this uses the Avira engine anyway.
But before installing, try Googling “PCKeeper Antivirus PRO review” and see what they say.

BTW, here’s the WOT verdict on the company, read the comments: Hmmm

While I feel like an idiot, I’d rather be there than not doing this correctly.
I am running Avira. I have shut down most of it but can’t seem to close it all in order to install this Offer.
Do I have to completely uninstall Avira? Shall I unplug my internet connection while installing if I’m completely with out firewall or AV?
    Thanks……

Any good? I’m always a little cautious about early versions, but would be extremely wary of an antivirus in version 1.

    Ashraf: thanks for this.

Sam456: “…I’ve been following Ashraf for about 10 years now and his patience is far greater than mine…”
Though, sometimes his tetchy side does show through. Presumably it’s when he gets out of bed on the wrong side.

It never ceases to amaze me that people don’t read/comprehend clear and easy directions when they’re given. It leads me to think that they would cry “forgery” if you tried to give them free money with no strings attached. All any of these downloads take is a little common sense and a little comprehension. But I guess it’s easier to do a quick scan of directions (if you payed attention to the Product blurb at all in the first place), install and then whinge. I’ve been following Ashraf for about 10 years now and his patience is far greater than mine. He’s always been there to help me and go the distance. Also having the common sense to actually fully read the directions would be a help as well. You have my thanks for so many things Ash, appreciate all you do & tolerate.

Do you actually use this software as your AV on one of your machines or were you just downloading it?

I had no problems with obtaining the free license as I did exactly what it says to do. Thanks Ashraf for this deal. I must admit I have never heard of this antivirus program. I do want to mention that it states that it is also for XP but when getting on the page where the license is, it does not say XP (unless my eyes are deceiving me). I now have the downloaded file with the license saved and will probably install it later as I must now be off to work. Keep up the good work here. Thanks again.

[@Ashraf] And for any doubters, I’ve personally gotten this freebie 3x already without once entering my credit card, giving my PayPal, or providing my bank information. If you follow the directions we gave you, you will be able to do the same.

[@Micke] [@austinfuzz] [@makis] [@Shachath] It makes me sad that we spent a significant amount of time to provide step-by-step directions yet some people don’t read them. For your sake, I will quote here the directions we gave you:

“For “Payment options”, click “PayPal” or “Wire transfer”; since this is a freebie, you need not enter your credit card information or give your PayPal email or bank account info — you will not pay anything or enter any financial information as long as you make sure to click “PayPal” or “Wire transfer””

    !! WARNING !!

As mentioned this offer needs your credit card info or other VALID payment info to be activated.
    Taken from the giveaway site.

This is a yearly subscription product. After 12 month(s), a yearly fee of $0.00 is due starting with the next billing cycle. You may cancel your subscription at any time.

Also note the ERROR “your yearly fee of $0.00, it was more like $47.54.

This offer hopes that you will forget to make a cancel of your subscription, so they can charge you.

Now here is a reminder to all of you, what may happen if you leave your email during a giveaway?
Now that is nothing to what can happen to a payment option.

The rest is up to you, but I will pass on this one.
