Hello,
The installation goes fine. When I launch PD Artist, a Windows configuration box appears. After a moment it prompts me for the Paintslate.exe install file. I do not have that program on my computer. The launching just hangs there and the program never starts up. I looked on the Dogwaffle site for any support docs that might include the same issue I am having. Very little there and nothing that addresses this problem.

I end up using Task Manager to quit the install/configure/launch window. If I try to launch it again, the same thing happens. Has anyone had this issue when launching the program? Does anyone have a solution? I appreciate any help, suggestions or workarounds you might have. Thank you.

Ivan

I’ve seen similar on very(!) rare occasion, not with Dogwaffle though. But I think 1 or 2 other users of Dogwaffle have seen it when installing Dogwaffle. It is usually due to something missconfigured in Windows, something like the PATH variable if there is such a thing (I know the same from Linux). If the PATH variable points to a place that contains a file named setup.exe, it is possible for the setup.exe (the installer) to not be run and instead run the other setup.exe found in the path.

Something like that. I don’t have a clear suggestion of how to fix it. But I’ve seen some case or two where they were successful simply by uninstalling that other program, and making sure that program’s installer is no longer there.

You could also use windows’ Search for setup.exe and list all folders that contain such a file. One of them is the culprit, quite possibly. I don’t recommend deleting them all, as it might delete something you should keep. But if you can find Paintslate in your drive (C: drive and possibly others), I’d try uninstalling it and you can always reinstall it later, right?

Wait, you said it installed fine?

That’s slightly different. Or is it? I don’t know. Still, can you find where on your system Paintslate.exe is located, and why? It certainly doesn’t come from Dogwaffle.

Hope this helps
