As usual the technical details is wrong: “Supports Windows 7, 8/8.1, 10, and 11 (32-bit and 64-bit)”
Supports XP and Vista too and probably windows 2000 and maybe NT4.0 is possible!
The BIG deficiency in this GIF builder is no way to influence the 256 colour palette that this generates and uses for the GIF files so one cannot optimise it for appearance over size or size over appearance. They should allow importing .PAL palette files and allow choices such as dithering or nearest colour but there are absolutely no palette settings at all. The output GIF has problems if the input images are of different dimensions, it DOES NOT rescale them to fit the desired output dimensions if the output is set to Auto… some frames even get oddly cropped even though the generated GIF has pixels to spare! The output viewer that launches after completion has bugs where the GIF was only This needs more dev work with Auto size setting producing 4000×1467 output dimension the output.gif reports 256×256 in explorer BUT the GIF is really 2560×1467 in irfanview and the built in output viewer crashes with a “Not enough storage is available to process this command” when there is easily more than enough… the viewer allocates memory incorrectly due to the conflicting parameters of the generated GIF file. Where is the BUG, in both the bad generation coding and the bad viewer coding as Irfanview views it without problems other than it was messed up with unexplained cropping of certain frames and a reduced dimension from 4000×1467 down to 2560×1467 and explorer reporting 256×256 which is the dimensions of the first frame. It needs more work sanity checks on output size, palette options etc etc… shame Ashraf never ran the program in earnest before he wrote his marketing piece! He’s no beta tester.
