Problem: The portable version gets activated normally but asks for activation again and again.
The only reason for that is that the License Manager is not able to store the license file. Most likely, your portable drive is write-protected.
On successful activation the License Manager creates file ‘kryptel.lic’ in the folder ‘/Kryptel/Settings’. Is it there?

Activation is possible during the period of the giveaway event. In fact this is the standard condition for free giveaways.
“So saying this is a lifetime license on the giveaway page is misleading” – no, it is not. The license is not time limited and it will not expire as long as you use it on the same computer.
