Good idea. I do this now with Home Assistant for important devices on the network, since my HA server is always-on. But phone dialing via a COM port is a bit outdated these days. A better idea would be text SMS to a cell phone. Since this program can send email, it might be possible to send a text message via your provider’s email-to-sms gateway. You would have to test if there’s enough flexibility in the email format.
