Because your data is stored within a single encrypted container, it leaves no footprint on your host operating system’s file structure when the drive is dismounted.
The container file has a distinctive file extension with this program… with veracrypt no file extension is specified and when the container is to be opened the file open dialogue uses *,* faile mask so the file extension can be anything which is more stealthy than a fixed file extension than this… and this is an installed program so cannot be said to be stealthy in any way so if you put valuable secrets or evidence of criminal activity in the containers and have the attention of law enforcement or organised crime expect them to notice and pressure YOU for the key and container file names… Yet another way this degrades the stolen veracrypt experience!
