I canceled the Imagisizer installation when I read through the license agreement and found the following provision (Section 8, Taxes):
“…Licensee shall also pay to Developer, or reimburse Developer as appropriate, all amounts due for property tax on the Software…”
This requirement sounds like it applies WHETHER OR NOT you paid anything at all for the software: it’s not like a sales tax where you pay 5% tax on the purchase, and so if you paid $0.00 for it, then the tax is $0. This is a PROPERTY tax on the developer’s software, assessed by the tax collector. So if his tax collector decides that the Imagisizer developer must pay $1 million property tax based on the estimated value of the software, then we as SoS downloaders would seem to be on the hook for a share of that $1 million tax.
I don’t know how much personal information the installation wizard asks for, but I’m not clicking on “I Agree” just to find out. Remove from the license agreement the part about us paying your property tax, and we’re good.
