Reviews for Advanced Recent Access
Works good on Win 7 64bit. Does what it’s supposed to do.
Shows computer’s recent activity. Optimizer/Cleaners often
clean recent files so you would see nothing. Means all is well.
Cons: I don’t know anything bad. Can’t access cleaned/deleted recent activity,
which is not actually a bad thing.
I tried this app a while back. It’s OK, but slow and ugly. Now I just use Nir Sofer’s RecentFilesView. No frills, just quick and efficient.
I give one star just I can’t give lower.
not working at all.
I have windows 10.
Non responsive nearly all the time. Slow and inefficient to the point of unusability.
Review:
The software seems to be in a nascent stage. There is no way to clear the recent file list, only to send items to recycle bin or the permanent shift-del delete.Perhaps it can be done using a tracks/privacy eraser, just like Windows Explorer Recent folder.
I would really vouch for this program if it had a clear list option and some more skins without the ugly icons. Also a favorite files/folders list would be useful.
Thanks. See the discussion forum for alternative suggestions.
This program is supposed to be easy.
She’s barely started, and when you run takes about 60 to 70 MB .
If you understand the difficulty that comes with accessing recently used files or programs, then you truly appreciate Advanced Recent Access. When I first came across this software, I was surprised by its lightweight nature, ease of use and efficiency.
In a few clicks, the Advanced Recent Access helps to locate easily and open recently used programs, files, and folders. In fact, you can also view a comprehensive range of properties including when the file was accessed last, its size, date of creation and author name. This saves a lot of time that could have been used to locate the specific files manually on your computer.
Download & Installation
After reading a short description on the capabilities of this software, I decided to give it a try. With a size of only 599Kb, it only took a few seconds for me to download and install on my Windows 7 computer. The main window of the application features very few but essential commands. I commend the programmers for the clearly articulated interface that is appealing to even the novice in the software world.
User Interface & Features
Immediately below the header, you will find a light green interface listing all your previously viewed items in a list. Besides each item, there is information about its size, format, path and the creation or modification date. Another interesting feature that I found quite useful is the filter capability.
Filters on Advanced Recent Access will allow you only to view the files you need. For example, you can choose to view applications only or documents and videos only. No matter the setting you apply, the transition is seamless and allows you to work without lagging.
Other integral features that I was excited upon using are shortcuts and commands such as ‘Open File Location’, ‘Run’, ‘Move to Recycle Bin’ and ‘Properties’.
If you deal with a huge number of files on a daily basis, the ‘Find’ function will come in handy since it will spare you a considerable amount of time that you could have wasted digging through your files. I found its capability of displaying a file type quite handy especially if you have more than one file sharing the same name. For example, I was able to pick easily out a .PPT file, although there was a .docx file with a similar name on my computer.
Advanced Recent Access is not just limited to accessing your files –it has a cleaning utility that allows you to remove files that you no longer need from the list.
Conclusion
During the whole time that I used Advanced Recent Access, I found it to be more efficient than the windows indexing feature only when you are dealing with a huge number of files. If you are away from your computer, and someone modifies files, then you do not need to begin a file-by-file search since it will provide you with all the details you need. Besides, you can locate moved files quite easily and run an application without having to navigate away from this application.
