Driver Magician is a driver management program that allows you to backup, restore, update, and remove drivers for Windows. Other features include ability to detect unknown drivers, ability to create self-extracting EXE that allows you to restore drivers without having Driver Magician installed, and ability to restore drivers silently.
Driver Magician offers a professional solution for device drivers backup, restoration, update and removal in Windows operating system. It identifies all the hardware in the system, extracts their associated drivers from the hard disk and backs them up to a location of your choice. Then when you format and reinstall/upgrade your operating system, you can restore all the “saved” drivers just as if you had the original driver diskettes in your hands. After one system reboot, your PC will be loaded and running with the required hardware drivers.
What’s more, Driver Magician has a built in database of the latest drivers with the ability to go to the Internet to receive the driver updates. It saves lots of time to find the correct drivers and mature drivers will obviously increase the performance of hardware. If there are unknown devices in your PC, Driver Magician helps you detect them easily and quickly with its built in hardware identifier database.

Reviews for Driver Magician
This software suggested me some system driver-updates what forced me afterwards to re-install because nothing worked any more, so…..
This updater lacks some of the basic functions every driver update Apps should have. 1. no offline driver data base ( no internet no update) 2. It can’t seem to distinguish between some drivers that are not compatible for your system or that are actually older then those already installed.( out of the five it found on my PC, one was not compatible. one was older then the one i already had and three were the same ones already installed). 3. No automatic download or install( If u don’t know what driver is what or which one it replaces and how to install them, then you’re left scratching your head). I personally use driver easy it’s not perfect but it makes updating a simple task . Free driver booster is pretty good also. I would use Driver Magician as a backup.
First, I installed and tried out version 3.71 that I got from GOTD (I know how to reinstall freeware with a time-limited license), and now this version 4.9 from SoS. The results are the same. The number of drivers this program found on my computer is sparse. Both versions indicated that my monitor has an available update, which I downloaded. That’s all folks. Just one driver. Humm…..Driver Magician needs a little more work done to it.
I have a new Lenovo All In One computer (less than a year old) with BT net plus and this program found four drivers that needed updating. Even the Lenovo scan did not detect them. Now I do believe in Magic.
Thanks for a great program.
After a fresh copy of operating system, your computer might not be as helpful as you expect. One of the reason is missing drivers. To avoid such a situation from the get go, it is necessary to maintain a backup of your drivers. Many driver management software exist from which you can choose. In this case, I am going to put Driver Magician through the test. The following content highlights what I noted.
Driver Magician at a glance
This program is straight up easy to install. Its ease of use also reflects through its dominantly white interface. The options are only single clicks away to execute the intended purpose. At my first look, I found this program to focus more on getting the job done rather than offering any additional UX to the user.
Pros
Easy to use
Regardless of your level of experience in dealing with computer drivers, you will have a pretty smooth experience when you get your hands on Driver Magician. With its main options clearly labelled, you will know what each is meant to perform. For instance, clicking on the Update Drivers option will trigger the application to crosscheck your drivers to confirm whether there is a newer version on the internet and update them.
Windows drivers are not all about updating to the latest versions. There are certain drivers that may turn out problematic but you should worry not. This application gives you an easy way to effectively uninstall such drivers in few clicks.
Offers flexibility through its options
Although this driver manager seems to focus on getting the job done, as I had mentioned, it also throws in additional options to allow you choose how you want certain processes to occur. Under Options, you will get to choose how you want the Driver Backup and Driver Restoration processes to run. Rightfully so, you will have three backup options to determine the extension of your backups. Similarly, the way the driver restoration process occurs depends on the options you select.
Cons
It is less developed
I have used other driver management programs before like Driver Pack Solution and Snappy Driver Installer. Based on that, it was very clear that Driver Magician is a bit less developed in terms of what it has to offer. Other driver managers not only come bundled with extra software, but also provide better user experiences.
The less developed aspect also involves this program’s lack of an offline version. This means it is not possible to update your drivers if you are not connected to the internet.
Conclusion
My experience in using Driver Magician was flat without any major highlight. However, it is worth mentioning the ease in using the program and its smooth experience in updating, backing up, and restoring your drivers. It is a decent choice if you are looking for a light program to help you get drivers after a fresh installation of an operating system.
Great program, you can set it and for get it. It quickly updates drivers to indure your PC is running and fast as possible.

Great program, you can set it and for get it. It quickly updates drivers to indure your PC is running and fast as possible.

A driver seeking program that needs Internet access to do the job, no thanks! I would like to get a built-in Internet drivers offline database first then.
A Windows PC is a useless shell if it isn’t running the right hardware drivers. Managing drivers by yourself means that you will only make an update when you see the need – not as soon as there is a driver update for your computer’s hardware. Driver Magician is supposed to automate the process ensuring that your system is always running on the latest drivers.
Simple, light and neat
This is what comes to your mind when you first launch the minimalistic Driver Magician. All the important functionality sits to your left. All you have to do is click on it and launch a process, be it updating drivers, backing them up or running a restore.
An apparently simple menu strip at the very top packs a surprising punch. With elaborate backup and restoration options, you can backup to or restore from a wide variety of external storage media. A tools option lets you specify where you will be sending your backups. To a folder, a zip file a self-extracting .exe or an auto setup package.
If you have an active internet connection, Driver magician will automatically scan your system and compare the available drivers to what is available online. If anything is out of date, you will find the download and update option under ‘update drivers.’ Backing up any drivers in your system will give you a file that will always bring your computer up to speed even if you don’t have access to internet after the crash. Using the driver backup option on the toolbar lets you backup everything, even Windows specific drivers.
Pros
Easy to use
Every good software must be easy to use. Driver Magician has managed to pack immense powers and control into a simple application that will never confuse any beginner.
Powerful update features
Everything, from the actual ‘Restore Drivers’ to ‘Update Drivers’ options gives you absolute control over your machine. You could either recover from an initial backup or just find new drivers online.
The backups are independent
Backing up to a self-extracting or an executable set-up files means that backup disk or file can run on any similar machine even if it doesn’t have Driver Magician pre-installed. This is the flexibility you need to get your crashed machine up and running within no time.
Cons
Apparent system lag
This is common with every app that directly communicates with your hardware. Expect your machine to lag whenever you run Driver Magician. It would be wise to close all other application and focus on backup and restore to avoid the frustration.
No inbuilt downloader
Clicking the download button when updating drivers launches a web browser. I tend to think that a dedicated in-app downloader would have made the app more fluid and faster at what it does.
No offline update option
You can never get new versions of your drivers if you do not have an active internet connection at that point in time. It would be better if automatically kept an offline up to date database. This could come in handy for quick offline updates.
Conclusion
Driver Magician is a hit. It does what it say it will do on the book, and it does it perfectly. It is a must have small-factor tool to any PC owner and most importantly any technician who formats or recovers crashed computers every now and then.
