@Bernaar: This is not a scam. Aunsoft was doing maintenance on their website and they foolishly brought down the whole server for the weekend. It is up now and you can download it.

    @niko-las: You are welcome!

    Thanks Ashraf

They do have conflicting info on their web-site – note, this product comparison, states “Lifetime Free Update” under the subheading of “Other Features”: http://www.aunsoft.com/compare/compare-dvd-bluray-ultimate.html However, their upgrade policy, which I managed to locate using Google, but it cannot be found by browsing their web-site, makes a more thorough statement – http://www.aunsoft.com/support/upgrade_policy.html

Not sure if the software developer reads these posts, but they should really amend their wording on their product comparison page to “Free minor updates”. Otherwise, I’d image they’ll have a few disgruntled customers once they realise they can’t upgrade or update their software to the new major release without paying an additional fee.

    Thanks for the confirmation.

@niko-las: There was miscommunication between me and Aunsoft. We have cleared it up and free MINOR updates are offered, not free minor and major updates.

    Hello Mr Boss

I see this deal has returned. Did Aunsoft ever get back to you to clarify their update/upgrade policy? I’m guessing we’re still going by “free minor updates” as specified on their web-site for now.

    Hi Ashraf,

I see this deal has returned. Did Aunsoft ever get back to you to clarify their update/upgrade policy? It appears you have stuck with “Free minor updates” in the T&C’s section above. They have conflicting info on their web-site. The following product comparison, states “Lifetime Free Update” under the subheading of “Other Features”: http://www.aunsoft.com/compare/compare-dvd-bluray-ultimate.html

Their upgrade policy, which I managed to locate using Google, but cannot be found by browsing their web-site, makes the following statement:
“Being a registered user of one or more Aunsoft products, you are entitled to a free copy of any minor updates to the products. Commonly, the update is minor update, such as update from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 or 1.1.1 to 1.2.1. This minor update is free for all our registered users.
A major upgrade is released with a significant amount of improvements and new features, and the first digit of the version number changes, such as from 1.1.1 to 2.x.x. For the major upgrades, you only need to pay a small amount of upgrade fee to enjoy the full set of advantages of the new version.”
    Link: http://www.aunsoft.com/support/upgrade_policy.html

Seems like they define an “update” as a minor update – hence, updates (also known as minor updates – are available as lifetime free updates). An “upgrade” on the other hand seems to be defined as “major upgrade/update”, which requires additional payment.

I know its only $2.99, but this conflicting info doesn’t sit well with me. Not sure if the developer reads these posts, but if buyer perception is important to them, I really do recommend they amend their product comparison to state “Free Lifetime Minor Updates”.

    Cheers,

@niko-las: The good thing about being Mr. Boss is I can extend promotions at will ;-) Thanks for the tip on Pavtube, I’ll drop them an email.

    Ashraf,

All good. This promo is likely to expire by the time Aunsoft confirm it with you. I’d also prefer they change their wording on their web-site before I make a purchase on any of their products. No big deal though. I’m sure there’ll be others coming through in the near future. Pavtube might be worth a shot (Note, Pavtube does state that their products have free lifetime upgrades…therefore, maybe they are not the same software developers, but you will find that their web-sites are almost identical too. I do agree about their love to copy each other – its just part of their culture – “Same Same, but Different”.

    Thanks Again,

@niko-las: They told me free lifetime updates. I’ll change the wording to free minor updates until I can get a confirmation from them. Sorry about that.

    Hi Ashraf,

Are you sure that “free lifetime updates” are provided? Please confirm. I’ve pasted a little bit of info from the Aunsoft web-site below:

“1. What is your upgrade policy?
We provide free MINOR updates. While for MAJOR upgrades, you may have to pay extra for the latest version of a Aunsoft product. All rights about the price of upgrade are reserved. More information please check Aunsoft Upgrade Policy”

This comment can be found here – http://www.aunsoft.com/support/faqs.html?

Someone needs to change their wording around, either Sharewareonsale or Aunsoft. It’s either someone’s mistake, or perhaps Aunsoft has mislead you – either by mistake or on purpose. We offcourse would not know how many minor updates would be remaining for this software and there’s no description on their web-site about what constitutes a minor update.

    Cheers,

@niko-las: It depends. Some sales we directly provision licenses to you; this happens if you purchase directly from SharewareOnSale via our website. Other sales, the developer directly provisions to you. This happens if you purchase from an external page on the developer’s website.

If the buy button has “(External Site)” written on it, that is to inform everyone that they must purchase from the developer’s website directly and are not buying through SharewareOnSale. If it doesn’t have “(External Site)” written on it, then you are buying directly from SharewareOnSale.

    Hope that helps!

    Awesome, thanks mate.

So how does that work with the provisioning of license keys? Is the license key generated and provisioned by Sharewareonsale, not the software developer? I was under the assumption that after you placed your order, you would receive an email from the software developer with your license key. But maybe this works differently.

ps. I noticed the RSS feeds on the Aunsoft web-site are very frequent – if this is anything to go by in regards to how frequently their newsletters would get sent, then it would probably drive me bonkers (especially if they don’t understand what “Unsubscribe” means).

    Cheers,

@niko-law: I don’t know if Aunsoft and Pavtube are the same but I do know developers tend to copy each others interfaces.

As for email, we only give your email address to developers if the email is required for them to create registration details for your purchase. So far, that hasn’t happened. So, no, Aunsoft won’t get your email address.

    Hi Ashraf,

The GUI for Aunsoft Blu-Ray Ripper appears to be identical to Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper. I’m guessing it could be the same software developer, swamping the market with products under a different brand name. I’ve used Pavtube previously and it works flawlessly, therefore I’m thinking of making a purchase.

Question – when making a purchase, I’m assuming the software developer would get hold of your email address and therefore, you get added on to their email list automatically? I’d prefer not to buy if means you constantly get spammed from Aunsoft and, possibly extra spam for all of their other cloned products. Many of these software developers do not even understand what it means when a user choosers to “unsubscribe” from their newsletter.

    Cheers,
