I also found that it increased the size of some files I tested it with. For the output, I was using JPG with 90% compression, the program’s default, and the input was pictures direct from my camera (which I presume are 100%?). However, I reduced the output compression to 50% and although there was some loss of quality, it wasn’t significant when viewed on my laptop. It might be if I had a larger monitor or if I were going to print the pictures.

So it appears that what this program does is simply change the JPG compression ratio, and “without loss of quality” is hype. I’m not an expert, so I’d appreciate if someone could tell me if that’s true. If so, FastStone viewer can do that in batch mode. Is there a difference? Thanks for any advice.
