Steganos security products are some of the best I’ve ever seen. I’ve used them for years and strongly recommend their lock-box program. One of the most useful downloads around, especially if you take your computer out of your home.

Password menadżer jest bardzo kiepski – używanie go to wręcz “katorga”. Mało intuicyjny i nie chce działać na wszystkich stronach. Ocemian tak na 3 pkt. z 10 możliwych. W porównaniu do Sticky Password to powiedział bym “średniowiecze” :)

    Hilarious.

Ashraf runs two websites. Nobody can call him a slacker. The other one has lots of very good reviews.

After reading Neil J. Rubenking’s review, I’ll pass on this program. But if I didn’t already have LastPass it would probably worth a try.

It looks like the program comes preregistered, all with the same number, so you may not need your registration email. It’s probably a good idea to save the number anyway in case you need to reinstall.

To find your registration number, right click on Steganos in your task bar after the program has been started and check out “About”. BTW a new update is immediately available on the internet after installation. I’m downloading now.

[@tony33] Thanks, Tony — seriously! It really is good of you to provide these insights. SoS is a platform for the provision of software offers, not a review site, a fairly obvious point yet one missed completely by Ashraf’s daft critics. Your posts have provided the kind of enlightenment that can only be furnished by an actual user — hence the gratitude of myself and, doubtless, many others here. I still think you’re being waaaay too much of a cheapo though to only charge out at $45 . . .

@Philx, you must be kidding, they have a hard time selling at 82% off, nobody is going to pay me even @my going rate of $45. Since I am in a good mood, I am throwing in this bonus: tick the box to create the safe wherever hdd or partition you want the Safe (SLE file) to locate (not just in default drive C, thus preventing accidental deletion, smaller C drive to backup or curious eyes….) In version14 there is a “secret safe” not avail. in ver.12 and is quite easier to use than Truecrypt “hidden container” ( “Secret safe” is different than “Hidden safe”, which is avail in both ver. ) also, I turned off (deactivate) browser’s add-on, “show opened Safe icon” on desktop…. because they’re not working right anyway. Steganos’ help files and their forum seriously need upgrade. Hope we can use this website to enrich our lives, helping each others….Have a pleasant day folks….Peace

Dear Ashraf: I road tested a car the other day, to see if it suited my needs. I had an inexpensive meal at a new restaurant, to check if the venue was worth spending a lot more money in next time. I checked out the reviews of some software that looked interesting then downloaded the latest version to see if it was all I thought it would be. I decided to look left right and left again today when crossing the road on my way to a neighbourhood grocer’s where I checked the condition of the fruit myself rather than just assuming every apple and orange was OK. Do please tell me where I’m going wrong.

By the way: I do think $500 per hour for road testing, meals sampling, software evaluation reporting, road-crossing assistance and fruit checking is a bit much. Would you consider $499.50 and throw in some advice on what TV shows are worth watching?? Also, you might like to add into that package — not for me, but at least several personality disorders on this thread — a guide on how to mask their IP address so as not to finish up looking an even bigger plonker/plonkers than he / she/ they already are /already is.

UR talking about yourself? and you expect Ashraf to sell his shirt, to work with empty stomach to support this website, to feed Maria…UR sooo stupid man.
For the loud mouth Maria, I can tell you this so you can buzz off too…, SAME…not much changes between ver.12 and 14. , a few improvements but some problems/”CONS” mentioned still there eg. Password Manager won’t interact with website sometimes, tech.support is slow and terrible, Crypt&Hide is no match to Axcrypt (it won’t accept changes but better than Axcrypt in accepting all characters password and 256bit) Portable Safe is poorly implemented but their jewel …the SAFE is reliable…Unbreakable or not I don’t know because my buddies@ NSA are quite capable !(I’m not sure even with Truecrypt) , to me, Ashraf is providing a mean to test some softwares I like for free, sometimes I bought one dirt cheap, sometimes I got a free good one like this Steganos14 today (last time I bought ver.14 for $10 from Steganos before they introduce ver.15) and as far as I know (and use) the Safe is very good. Damn! this Ashraf guy exploited me big time…have to report him to BBB!

Been using this suite since it was given away last month at one of the German Advent Calendar sites. It works as advertised (I used the Safe component for quite a while previously). All of the functions are available (for free) elsewhere, but it is nice to have them in one piece of software. It’s unobtrusive, light on resources, and I’m glad to have it. I also appreciate the opportunity to pick and choose what components to use. Thumbs up!

Thank you, Ashraf. You efforts are truly appreciated (despite all the nonsense in today’s comments). I visit this site and dotTech.org daily, usually first thing in the morning. I’ve learned a lot from you (and your readers!). Keep up the good work.

If I know the answer of a query, I will give it. If I dont know the answer, I will tell you I dont know the answer — like I told Maria. I’m not obliged to spend my time and go research and find the answer to every question people ask, especially people who are too fucking lazy to do it themselves and don’t pay a dime for the service we are providing.

Ashraf has done plenty of reviewing of software and has graciously posted those reviews for all of us. I for one would not expect him to test and review every single program that crosses his path or that he posts for us as a freebie. If you’re not sure about a program, do some research on it. If you can’t find enough research to satisfy you and you’re concerned about it, download it in a virtual environment/sandbox and check it out yourself.
I’m just amazed at the amount of people who give him so much grief when we’re getting some really good quality software for free thanks to his efforts.

What ‘Mr’ Ashraf wants is FREE EXPOSURE, so that he can sell advertising space to third parties.
As long as he demands from his readership that THEY THEMSELVES do the testing on the ‘free’ software, he doesn’t run any risks.
And why bother to e.g. ask the makers of this paticular program for an answer, rather than arguing with Maria?

No, Mr. Ashraf, you do not have to feed me.
Rather than going into an arguement with the experts, all I want is an answer to my question:
“What have they done to correct the CONS”
Surely, for a ‘specialist’ like you that shouldn’t be too difficult?
Until I know the risks are minimalized, I will not dowload software, even when they are supposedly ‘free’.

  58. Ashraf

(Mr. Boss) – Reply to this comment#4OLD COMMENT

[@Maria] What are you talking about? There is no confusion about “whether it refers to v14 or v12″. The review you linked is clearly on v12, an older version of the program. The program being given away today is v14. There are bound to have been changes made, so if you really want to know if the issues mentioned in the review have been fixed download the program and find for yourself — it costs you nothing except a few minutes of your time. Alternatively, you could try to find a changelog for the program.

We are already providing you with an excellent freebie, would you like us to feed you too?

Your expectation that the developer will satisfactorily answer your question is misguided. No developer is going to say “nope, we had major functionality-affecting bugs in the previous version but still didn’t fix them”. A developer will always say yes we’ve made improvements.

  59. Maria

I’d rather expect the response from the actual makers, and not from a company that is ‘advertising’ their products!

    Maria

  60. Ashraf

(Mr. Boss) – Reply to this comment#2OLD COMMENT

[@Maria] I haven’t tested the program so I’m not sure but the review you link is of v12 — a good two versions older than v14 and three versions older than the latest v15. I’d suggest downloading v14 and finding out for yourself.
