Sounded good but failed to install.
    Said it couldn’t access :
    F:\Users\********\AppData\Local\Temp\Bitsilo.msi
Went to that folder in explorer and ran the file from there, same error message.
    Pity it sounded great.

    Hi,

I suppose this doesn’t copy files in use? if it does it should be on the features list because its a very important feature on Backup programs.

Downloaded Bitsilo 1.2.9.0 from their site.
Installed without a hitch, used SharewareOnSale exclusive license key and it generated permanent license.
    Hope that helps others.

[@Rui Paz] If a file is in use during a backup (i.e. the file has a “read lock”), this will be reported in the History Log and the Backup Journal.
    Hope that helps,

No problem installing it but when I double click the icon nothing happens! No error message…nothing?!?
So I have no opportunity to enter the license key.
My only a/v software is Windows Defender.
    Suggestions welcome.
    Thanks,
    Dan

[@Mike] Hi Mike – what version of Windows are you running? Also, is there anything in your Windows Event Log that could point to a reason? Please email me at [email protected] with any details.

So what is the format of the Backup File – Zip or something that can be read by another package?

[@Leslie] Hi Leslie. You have a choice of 3 different formats for backup files: normal folders, normal zip files (limited to about 2GB), or the BitSilo proprietary “Silo” format. After choosing any of these 3 formats, files can be stored within them with either full directory names, or as indexed directory names. The best option is the Silo format, since it can efficiently store an unlimited number of files. There is a separate free program, SiloExplorer, that can open any Silo file and extract files from it, regardless of what computer the Silo was created on.
You can switch between these formats at any time, for any backup set.
Please see the BitSilo FAQ for more details.

    @Molliesoft
    looked interesting… but:
    – did not install on 3 different computers!
(Old Acer, Win10-1809; 4 years old Lenovo, Win 10-1903: 5 years old Lenovo, Win10-1903)
    – same with installer from your website!
    – Extracted files from .msi, renamed main file(s) to .exe: Could run main program, but still got error messages from includes (and freshly downloaded!) “free ‘explorer'”
played some time to get extra functions to work – but soon lost any interest and motivation to handle with such a lot of glitches in the package as a whole!
    Needs heavy improvement

[@wosa] Sorry about these problems. Any further information or screenshots you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Is there any info in the Windows Event Log relevant to this? Please respond to [email protected].
    Thanks!

My Kaspersky Antivirus detected malware, namely Trojan.Win32.Generic
The installation was automatically terminated, removed, and all related files deleted
I’m totally surprised that this software is allowed here

[@Patrick] This is a false positive. BitSilo contains no malware of any sort.
