ChrisGuestIt seems to me that A/V would flag this.
0xBADC0FFEEGuestWhen opening the uhc control panel, under Options, the versions says v2.1 – September 2014.
Which is it, 2.1 or 3.0?ColinGuestAshraf,
Just thought I ought to point out to you (perhaps for your own protection) that perhaps you ought to have posted a disclaimer/ warning re use of this software. I appreciate it may not be illegal to advertise such a product or buy it but using it is a different matter. To use such software in this way is already illegal in the Uk/ EU if you do not inform the person that their data is being copied. As the purpose of this software is to undertake this function surreptitiously it obviously will not be formally warning the individual. In fact it happens automatically as soon as the USB stick is plugged in and in any case a verbal warning would not be sufficient. The work place is the only place where this might be legal as employers have the right to know what is happening on company PCs etc. This right and the use of monitoring is usually set out in an employees contract of service.
In a landmark ruling yesterday The European Court of Human Rights with 7 judges sitting granted employers full access to personal messages sent from company computers and smartphones and postings to sites such as facebook, twitter, whatsapp, Apple’s iMessage, Snapchat, Instagram and others of a similar social media nature. If it is a company device employers will be within their rights to monitor even outside of work hours. Employers do this regularly and many employees are unfortunately unaware that it is happening. Obviously employers are concerned about people surfing porn sites, disclosing company information/ policy or perhaps planning to leave. Monitoring such as this is all legal provided employees are warned in writing and as I’ve said this is generally via their contracts of employment.
It is illegal, however, to do it without notifying the individual in writing. The law is similar to that covering the use of CCTV. Notices must be posted prominently in areas which are subject to CCTV monitoring. This applies to private property also so a householder (very obligingly!!) must disclose by prominent notice that the surrounding area is under CCTV surveillance.
By the way, your contributions to giveawayoftheday.com are sadly missed! It’s not the same these days.
Kind regards
ColinAshrafKeymaster[@Colin] I appreciate the advice. For this one, I think we have no liability as we aren’t advertising it for illegal purposes nor is the program itself identified for illegal purposes. I will look into a disclaimer, though.
jmjsquaredGuest+ASHRAF – +Colin’s advice is sound but you are on secure legal grounds here in the U.S. However, it is a good idea to include a disclaimer on this and all your promotions, like the one used on your “old” SoS pages.
ASIDE: I much prefer the more compact “old” format that had a brief review of the featured software with visitors’ comments appearing below.
Regarding USB Hidden Copier: This program seems useless for any legitimate purpose and has too many peculiarities that make it look like it’s really intended to enable us to spy on and to steal data from people we PERMIT to use our computers. Nobody that asks for- and is given permission to use a friend’s/associate’s computer reasonably expects that their data will be copied. And, what about people who use portable USB sticks to store password-manager applications to store bank, webiste, credit card credentials, for example?
The argument that it speeds up automatically copying the computer owner’s OWN files/folders is just plain nonsense; a bald-faced lie. After this *spy/steal-ware* did its thing, all the copied data would have to be re-moved/copied again to appropriate document or video or audio or whatever folders, right? And, THEN, we would have to manually confirm the copied data’s integrity before taking still more time to manually delete the date from the USB device. How is this time-saving?
And, why is it coded to be “completely invisible” with no Notification-area or Start-menu icons; with hidden services? Who is it hiding from? Certainly not from the owner of the computer who has rights to his/her own data, right?
Even assuming this software is used legitimately and legally, besides usability, there are many other issues, namely:
1. It installs into the root of your system drive without any offer to install to “normal” locations like Windows Program or Program (86) Folders;
2. It creates another, strangely named folder (sysbackup) for copied files/folders, again in the root drive, rather than in a user-specified location or the more commonly used My Documents folder.
3. It installs a service that does NOT appear in the Services snap-in, on either of my Windows 7 64Bit systems, anyway. So, how do I legitimately monitor/control what it does besides trusting it to do so on its own? It does appear in Task Manager, though.
4. It is Version 2.1 – Sept_2014, not Version 3.0 Pro, as advertised.I read and mostly enjoy your software reviewer’s offerings regualrly but think he muffed it today.
conjurerGuestDisappointing. I thought I’d get the actual version 3.0, instead it is the old one 2.1 from 2014. Please correct your advertisement, I wouldn’t have needed to waste my time if I knew that beforehand. Not nice :(
akhald9Guestthank you
danGuestI question the usefulness of this utility. How big a deal is it to drag & drop files and not have the headache of copying unintended files I don’t want on my HDD ?!
SewtechGuestjust one question–is this an “install anytime” program since it was downloaded before the cutoff?
Mark EditorGuestwhere is this program installed… per comments above?… I want access to options in control panel and I can’t find it nor can I figure out how to uninstall if I wished since I can’t find the control panel… please advise…
CHEERS
