I still use and recommend Panda Free for four reasons:
1. Still tops AV tests
2. Lightweight
3. Minimal-to-zero false positives
4. No nags!
It’s not a one-hit-wonder/pump-and-dump deal; it’s been consistent and reliable for a few years at least.
I use a 1-year giveaway AVG on my sheep-dip VM and it still nags (even though it’s a paid product) and has problems with false positives. Yes, it’s avast! with a different skin now. Like avast!, I probably won’t use the full year–it’s that much of a nuisance. (I’ve used avast! for years in the past and it’s software I want to like but not so anymore.)
