[@Andreas Stroebel] how does it backup what it does not have access to by ACLs? How does it change ACLs when it’s not even running as an elevated user let alone trustedinstaller pseudo user. The claim:

“Copy NTFS attributes
Adjusts the permission for the destination file and destination folder of the source file and source folder and copies alternate data streams (ADS).”

I think they meant to say:

“Adjusts the permission for the destination file and destination folder to that of the source file and source folder and copies alternate data streams (ADS).”

has a BIG disclaimer!

“Important Notice: This option applies only to data storage device that are formatted with the NTFS file system!”

That means even if they are able to flawlessly duplicate all the ACL/ADS and all timestamps on pure NTFS systems, which I doubt, it won’t work if your destination media is not NTFS formatted in a similar version. e.g. an exFAT USB storage device or a mapped cloud folder or a mapped SFTP folder or a mapped network drive. Offline drive imaging software can reliably backup the entirety of the drives data and even deleted data and VSS store etc to any filesystem capable of holding the image file in its entirety or in compatible chunks in the case of a limited filesystem like FAT32 file systems.

I was not able to test their claims as their free standard version would not let me use it unless I registered with them first. Again although they support use of VSS to sync old shadowcopy versions of a file currently open I have seen programs relying upon VSS to copy files in use fail, VSS is not foolproof, the VSS store can become corrupted accidentally and can be maliciously damaged, only safe way to sync files is offline, online sync/copy is always a potential compromise.

Synhcredible cannot do a system drive mirror, too many folders are out of reach without mutilating their ACLs and stripping windows of layers of security, synchredible thankfully cannot do that!
