    On installation it asked to uninstall V6.0.14 automatically then I installed using Administrator rights
    once installed enter validation key and you will then have Ability V7.08

    Lazesoft Recovery Suite Pro RULES! it is the best backup software there is and offers so much more than anything out there! Saved my ass more times than I can say.

    Follow your dot.net site info and let people know that Keepass2 RULES! They just don’t know how to use it. Explain it to them as to how you can create a shortcut on Windows 10 with a command line and have it autostart without asking for a password. DOT.NET commander……….

    Wise software sucks ass! Really, it destroys the sync with google where you have to log back in when it comes to cleaning your browsing history.

    I guess Ability has developed a disAbility to actually do what they promise … does not bode well on what to expect from the program itself.

    I’d LOVE to review the program, but I draw the line at giving feedback on expired old versions that the vendor has already replaced and moved on from.

    Plus, as you can see above, the vendor has done nothing to facilitate getting the program working under my fingers and on my screen.

    Um … thanks for old versions that are a challenge to figure out how to manually download?

    [@Inacio] Hi Inacio, I am sorry you are experiencing difficulty during the download.

    The Ability website FAQ suggests:

    “Ability use a standard Microsoft bootstraper called setup.exe to manage the download of the actual installer. If something goes wrong when setup is downloading or executing the installer, then a message similar to “cannot find MSI” will be displayed.

    “The usual cause is too many temp files – try using Windows Disk Cleanup utility to delete temporary files and temporary internet files. To run this, type “Disk Cleanup” in the Windows search box.”

    This seems a little simplistic but worth a try.

    All our installers from over 20 years are available on the website, including v7. We don’t leave any older version user without help. So I don’t think it’s entirely fair to say we don’t “facilitate getting the program working”.

    For v7 installers, go to the Download menu option, and then click the ‘Legacy products’ link at the bottom of the page. For the Free Serial Numbers distributed by SOS, make sure you select from the left hand column of buttons for ‘Ability Office’, and not ‘Office Professional’. All our language versions are available using this page.

    Thanks, but neither the SOS nor your own mini-installer-getter worked for me ( or others here ).

    Hence MY offering of a manually-discovered workaround to try to fulfill today’s offering for our fellow SOS users.

    I imagine that you / Ability prefer that installers ONLY arrive directly and fresh from your website, thereby ensuring accurate, infection-free installers.

    However, your own website DENIES access to both of the mini-installer-getter programs from SOS and from your own site.

    Oh well.

    Perhaps your next first impression will be more thoroughly exercised before delivery.

    The installer bootstrap, ‘setup.exe’, being offered by SOS is the exact same program we offer from our website. Whatever is causing the issue you first experienced when attempting to download from SOS would cause the same problem when downloading from our own website, as you then also experienced.

    The downloads from our website have offered v7 for 18 months or so, and the same system has been used for previous releases, and indeed for our latest release, v8. The complexity of Windows privileges, mixed with the vagueries of system services and controls being enabled or disabled, seems to be an ever moving target. A quick search on Google will show examples of problems experienced by many software vendors using Microsoft Installer technology.

    We offer our software here for free in support of SOS. As a commercial business we only do that once we are focusing on a newer version. I am surprised you expect us to be giving away the current version of our commercial software.

    You are more than welcome to review our latest release free of charge. You can download and install the new version from our website. It will run for 30 days which should be long enough for most reviews. Unfortunately, you may find the same MS Installer issues on your PC will affect v8 installation too.
