READ http://www.webcompanion.com/faq as to other products calling this suspicious — ANY security program contains information regarding security and looks suspicious, but it’s like a chef carrying a knife — that’s what they do!

My question is what’s the difference between the free-anyway version and the $29 “pro” version — no info on the website.

Lava-Soft Ad-Aware Web Companion blocks my TeamViewer remote control and must be exited first as far as I can tell.

Also, does it protect “incognito” private browsing in any TCP/IP session, such as Google Chromes’s incognito, Firefox private, Tor Browser, and so on?

    How do we test?

I went to as many sites that WOT Web Of Trust calls bad red circles, and there was no interruption from Lava-Soft, though WOT popped up and warned me.

Lava-Soft should have a test Lava-Soft site that has benign proof of concept.

Otherwise, are they just making money watching our searches and selling the info?

I tried to install. Error message reads…”Web Companion has encountered a problem and need to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.” What’s that all about?

I tried to download the software twice – direct and through the mirror site. Norton identified it as not safe and removed it.

I want to know if this 2.3 version is the same version they were giving away last year or if it is a new version. It is possible if I downloaded this it would be identical to what I already have.

    Hi
In most cases free app’s do not protect in real time and you have to run them manually where the paid or Pro version do run and protect in real time. Hope this answer your question.

I used to use lavasoft adaware years ago and honestly it used to be one of the best in adware category. I’m not sure nowadays but logically it suppose to be even better from the experience they gained after all those years. I just downloaded it and will give it a try. I have been using Malwarebytes in conjunction with Avast internet security, both are Full paid versions and have been problem and virus free for ages with both of them running & protecting in real time.

In regard to Ashraf comment at the top (If you know of better software than Ad-Aware Web Companion PRO, post it here!)
I would say that Malwarebytes anti malware is one of the best if not the best in this field and I believe it’s stronger than Lavasoft Adaware web companion. What do you think About that ??

NoScript and ScriptSafe nip scripts in the bud unless you authorize them and you can block the domains that you want, which is a great way to block ads.
