Thank you for your reply. I don’t understand quite well your explanation with diskmgmt.msc “to assign the entire other partition to an empty SoftOrbits folder”. And “making that folder point to the new partition”. How do you “point” ? Junction, subst ?.
Have a nice Sunday.
Robertmake sure NO softorbits software is running, rename existing Softorbits folder in AppData\Roaming\ folder to Softorbits1 for future use. Then you create an empty folder called SoftOrbits in your logged in users AppData\Roaming\ folder and then go to diskmgmt.msc I usually go there from right click on This PC Manage console. and chose the target partition you want the softorbits programs to end up on and Right click on it in the disk management console and select “Change Drive Letter and paths…” CLick Add button and then choose “Mount in the following empty NTFS folder:” then press Browse button and navigate to “C:\Users\[yourlogin]\AppData\Roaming\Softoribits” and after you have done all that you can now navigate to the other drive/prirtition via opening the previously empty SoftOrbits folder… now for protection against the folder being deleted by faulty uninstallers right click on the SoftOrbits folder and select Properties and then the Security Tab, then click Edit button and in new window type Everyone into the input box and press “Check Names” button and the OK button… now you will have an Everyone user Group added in the top panel, select that entry and then in the Permissions for everyone panel put a tick in the deny write to hopefully deny future uninstallers the right to delete the folder when you uninstall a softorbits program which is highly likely as they’re not very good programs! final step is to copy the contents of the Softorbits1 folder into the contents of the new Softorbits folder and continue as usual. You will find future SoftOrbits installs will be placed on the other drive/partition and the installer won’t know any difference.
