trying to find out what’s new in this version I tried to go to their forum and was greeted by the following error:

“Error 508 Resource Limit Is Reached.”

    FWIW–
Older versions do not need to un-installed, per Copilot search results of a general question about differences between 2.12 and 2.14.

What advantage is there in installing the 64bit edition on 64bit windows compared to using the 32bit edition on 64bit windows? Is there ANY difference in performance, functionality or memory usage?

One of the problems with the bittorrent client embedded in this program is it is a 100% file leech and has no method to continue seeding after the file(s) have been downloaded which will lead other swarm users to blacklisting the client ID as it’s extremely bad mannered and antisocial compared to real bittorrent clients that permit seeding beyond initial downloading.
Surprise surprise that titbit of information is not in the fawning Overview on this site… nor what’s new in this version.

It works perfectly. It doesn’t have a download partitioning or acceleration function, which makes the download slow, but even so, it meets the needs that other competing software doesn’t, such as downloading audio, subtitles, and album art. Thanks to everyone for making the software available.

I think it may have been during Covid that I did an online search and from that was told the product had been discontinued. Evidently not the case, as later versions continued to emerge.

IDK about the seeding thing, as I don’t practice that, subscribe to any private torrent trackers, or therefore need to maintain a ratio. Ant DM is kept in the toolbox as just another later resort option, should other downloaders fail. (Sometimes one succeeds, where others don’t.)

Instead, I prefer to rely on third-party, offline, torrent fetch services like Linksnappy, which has been pretty reliable, and is more secure without the need for a VPN, in order not to attract unwanted attention to one’s torrenting. No need to keep a torrent client continuously open either, or expose at least a section of your computer’s HDD. A decent cloud seedbox should achieve the same ends, but that’s an alternate subscription.

Can you explain why when I click on the download it pops up Windows Defender blocks it and if I try to go past that, my actual Trend Antivirus blocks this installation? I have the non Pro version of this program currently installed and was just going to update to the Pro. What is the difference between the two versions.

[@DouglasH] Windows defender does not block it here… it may be your windows defender settings trying to protect you from anything downloaded from the internet… or you may have cloud based opinion detection enabled … I refuse to enable that as I know better than the vast majority of people on what is genuinely dangerous and what is not than people who are not educated admins. You could try right clicking on the downloaded executable and selecting unblock on the general tab or you could deselect the only allow installs from Microsoft app store or disable the windows 11 block on installing unsigned installers… as many good programs still do not sign their installers as it costs money to sign executables… This installer is NOT digitally signed and will have issues installing under default windows 11 settings.

[@Hermam] it by default accelerates downloads the same way as any other dedicated download manager in that IF the server supports it, it downloads multiple threads in multiple sub-sections of the main download. If the server does not support resumes and multiple threads from same IP then it will download single threaded with no resumes but that is a server restriction NOT a program restriction.
