It depends… if you backup to local storage that is always plugged in/installed then no, no backup program can protect those files from encryption by ransomware. But if you backup to one of the supported built in cloud providers and do not install a local enumerated client like google drive or onedrive or dropbox local client then yes that protects the backups from being seen by ransomware so they won’t be encrypted by it. Yes I do use it myself so have checked.

Mine reports to be up to date when I manually check for an update.

GuestI got mine from winingpc giveaway site ages ago 26.03 I’ve never been offered a newer version assuming there is any newer version.
I got the license key from the site administrator who posted in the comments section so never had to agree to ashampoo spamming and then later unsubscribe procedure.I use it to do real-time backup of my Documents folder less all the folders that developers abuse by putting their files and settings in sub-folders of the Documents folder to avoid wasted backup resources backing up executables and other unwanted log files… It works quite well. My only significant gripe is the summary of the job has to either be all on and it lists EVERY file and folder in the set regardless of if it was not changed since last backup just to hope to find in that haystack the needle that is the only file that was changed and therefore included in that backup session. The rest of the reporting options tell me nothing of any use just that it happened and nothing of what files or folders were updated or changed in that backup event.
