Ashampoo guerrilla marketing tactics have their charm : they shell you with an uninterruptible flow of free or heavily discounted software. However, there is such a thing as upgrade overload. I am the happy user (or should I say beneficiary ? I still have to use it) of an Ashampoo Burning Studio 2016 scraped for free from here, or somewhere else.
What’s the benefit to me of replacing it with this Ashampoo Burning Studio 2017 (also available for free on their site) ? Ashampoo is not very helpful on the subject. No feature comparison chart, no upgrade history, and a naming policy obviously designed to confuse users. Each and every version, free or otherwise, is the best thing since sliced bread, that we do understand from their site.
Which one is suited to my own needs ? That’s less clear, to say the least.Jan 2, 2017 at 9:56 am #6718950MarkoGuest

Since when has Ashampoo Burning Studio 2017 cost $49.99, it’s freeware?Jan 3, 2017 at 8:35 am #6731255SuzeGuest
[@Jet90] Good point ;-) Keep in mind that anytime Ashampoo offers a product that includes the full year in its title (e.g., Ashampoo Burning Studio 2017), it is the freebie promotion version of Ashampoo’s last non-free version (in this case, Ashampoo Burning Studio 16). And Ashampoo Burning Studio 16 was $49.99 . . .Jan 3, 2017 at 12:08 pm #6732858MattyGuest
