[@Bryn] Hello Bryn. I’m glad to hear that you’re excited about what Bitrot Detector can do for you, and am sorry to see that Bitrot Detector has been falsely flagged as containing viruses. Since becoming aware of this problem, I’ve been working with various antivirus vendors to report the false positive they’ve encountered in Bitrot Detector.
The false positive isn’t generated by the installer, but by the program itself. The program itself is not only compressed, but also encrypted by a special tool I use in order to implement licensing for Bitrot Detector (and also to implement database encryption that makes it difficult to tamper with the fingerprints it generates).
You may wish to try downloading the installer again and running it in a couple of weeks. You could also send me an email at [email protected] to be notified once I have confirmation that the false positive generated by Windows Defender has been addressed.
