Walter Webber IIIGuestHi there. Thanks for the help! However, I downloaded the 64 bit version and the option to enter the registration information is not on the help tab. I would like to register, but an not able to do so. Please advise. Looks like a fine product!
NelsonAntonioGuestMuito bom, obrigado.
Reg PellowGuestHi. Regret cannot find anywhere in program headings to allow registration with details provided.
Help.
Thanks
Reg
EMitchellGuestJust to counter the somewhat patronizing comments from the software publisher, the regsitration information they provided is exactly what came to my email inbox and, furthermore, after 20+ years of computer usage I have a pretty good idea how to cut and paste text. The point, as other posts have mentioned, is that the registrtion entry page/window is not appearing anywhere after starting te program.
I have installed on Windows 7 Ultimate x64, thus this isn’t strictly a W10 issue. I also opted to install the DiskMagik service during setup and it is running when I open the program. There is _nowhere_ to enter registry information. The About DiskMagik dialogue shows user “SDK Lizenz” leaving a Company field blank. There is no License Key field displayed.
Plus, it’s crashing on startup. I’m just about able to navigate to the Help menu. Any further attempts at exploration lead to the program crashing after displaying a window titled “mst Defrag” with the message “Encountered an improper argument”. The behavior is the same whether or not I navigate through the configuration wizard. I even installed again, opting for a “Repair” install, and the behavior and all observations remain the same.
I’m going to attempt a direct download from their website and see if I can enter the registration info in that that version. If not, I’ll uninstall. There are plenty of defragmentaion programs available. Rather than grousing about providing support to free customers, consider it an investment in future paying customers. If that’s a problem, better to not participate in giveaways at all. No one is asking for ongoing support, but for what seems to be a demonstrated and replicable issue.
Sebastiano BarbagalloGuestIn help manca la voce per registrare il programma.
Come registrarlo? Fatemi sapere. Grazie.BelgaGuest[@john hammond]
Thanks for your intervention John.It does not help very much those who encountered a problem only to register the program.
If there is no option in the help menu (with or without installing the service) you can’t enter registration info.
As I have already said in my post, your page http://www.diskmagik.com/reghelp.html does not help in this regard either.Amanda LancasterGuestHere is an update in regard to my experience. Since I saw they gave advice on how to register, I uninstalled, downloaded a new setup, reinstalled and tried again. I got the exact same result. Without changing anything and letting the product install as is, it automatically runs the service as well. When the program runs with the service running it DOES NOT give option under help to register and when you click ‘about’ it says SDK Lizenz. Now if I turn off the service and run the program it DOES give the option under help to Enter Registration Information, but when clicked nothing happens. I never get any ‘window’ open to enter this information. When I click ‘about’ all items are empty. So, having tried this all again with the same result, I’m going to have to uninstall and pass on this one. Thank you for the attempt but it’s just not working. Blessings to you and yours! Amanda

-> name/serial don’t match
-> uninstall all…mnazmiGuestThank you Diskmagik and Ashraf. I installed and registered the program according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Diskmagik SupportGuestSome users have reported that once installed DiskMagik shows as registered to ‘SDK Lizenz’ on the Help/About screen. While we cannot be sure, it may have been picked up from some other product installed on your computer. It may continue to work indefinitely with that as the registered user which is fine. Just hang on to your ‘sharewareonsale giveaway’ registration serial number in case if it ever prompts for a registration in the future.
AusGuyGuestJohn Miller JrGuestlove this product…have not had any trouble with it and it works just like it should…
GaryGuest@DiskMagik Support:
Someone brought to my attention a comment by DiskMagik Support, and asked me to take a look at it:
A comment from your organization on the Sharewareonsale.com forum:
<i>>Some users have reported that once installed DiskMagik shows as registered to ‘SDK Lizenz’ on the Help/About screen. While we cannot be sure, it may have been picked up from some other product installed on your computer. </i>
Yes, you can be sure! Are you seriously suggesting that all these users have the same (some other) program that is supplying the “SDK Lizenz” data to your program? Are you suggesting that your program arbitrarily self registers from some other program on the same computer, or are you suggesting some other program on the same computer recognizes that DiskMagik has been installed, and then jumps in and is able to set the registration value to SDK Lizenz all on its own? That program would have to act like a user to enter the data, or know exactly what and where to change the values in the registry. Not likely happening! Programs do not arbitrarily “pick up” data to use as the registration data. That value is solely controlled by the DiskMagik program. If you show unexpected data, then it is a fault in the program. If it shows intermittently, you need to figure out what causes the flaw.SDK Lizenz is German for SDK License, (for those that do not know) SDK being Software Development Kit. SDKs are used by developers, which I would wager that not many of the users reporting the program states that their install is licensed to “SDK Lizenz” are actually developers; you on the other hand (or your software company) falls into the developer category. If the data is “picked up” from a common source, it is your program that it is getting it from. Your software is the one unique thing that all of these users have in common, not some other program.
I am quite confident that you recognized the “German” connection, but instead, pretended it may be coming from other products installed on the user’s computer. You also know that your program gut internals (and at least parts of the setup (mstmd520e.exe)) were developed by mst software GmbH, from Germany. Some of the software they developed has been used by other companies, such as Ashampoo.
Looking at the Properties of the executable you offer, it clearly states that the software is Copyright 2005-2009 mst Software, GmbH, and with the Language set to: German (Germany). So it should not be any surprise to you that “SDK Lizenz” shows up in a German based software program.
mst software is no longer in business (mstsoftware.com), so we have no assurance that you have legit rights to use or sell the software.
mst Software developed the program they called “mst Defrag.” The last known mst Defrag program was 3.6.0.0, the same as this program. This is the same program, it even has the same program icon. The Properties of the executable you offer, shows that it has not been altered since 2009 (Tuesday, August 25, 2009, 8:20:36 PM).
I suspect that you do not have access to the source code of the internals, and due to mst software no longer operating, you are stuck with the current version the way it stands, and your intent is to try to sneak it onto users that do not know the difference. In my opinion, I do not think that is fair.
Finally, back to the comments on the Sharewareonsale.com forum …
I agree with EMitchell’s comment that your initial response to user’s comments sounded patronizing, and adding that they learn how to copy and paste a license to solve “their problems” with a link to help them out was not a great suggestion on your part. In response, here are some links you might want to consider as well:

John USAGuestAs my drives are SSDs I will pass up on this offer.
I read in the reviews that this program does not recognize SSDs properly, so I do not want any headaches. -
