    1. Does it save backups in its own format?
    2. How does it relate to files and folders with long names?

    Djon,

    1. Standard format ZIP and 7-Zip.
    2. The problem with long path names (longer than 259 characters) was solved in the program.

Please download Exiland Backup and test it.

The download stops at 2.9 MB, I tried it several times with different browers, always the same. Any idea?

Thank you! This is an excellent program. It just works as stated, no drama, funny pop-ups or stalling.
I have been using for years since I purchased it (v6.6). Do I need to uninstall the old version first to install this newer version?

Are the backups encrypted so that Ramsonware cannot lock them?

[@Frank Scott] Encrypting the backups does not stop ransomware from encrypting the backups again locking you out of your own backups. This can backup to FTP but how easy is it to get large resilient FTP storage space? Would be of more use if it had the cloud client built in with no local mirroring of the cloud file system… Plus I think, but it is not explicitly stated anywhere that, this is just the standard edition not the Professional edition.
They claim both the standard and the Professional include:

“Protection of archives against file-encrypting ransomware”

How do they protect the archives against file-encrypting ransomware?

Maybe “Michael (author of Exiland Backup)” can explain that protection if it is effective and exists?

Macrium Reflect has a feature called Image Guardian. When access to the backup file in any way is attempted, Image Guardian needs to be turned off. Are you saying that ransomeware can still encrypt an Image guardian file?

Hello, try installing the program in the same folder, overwriting the program files.
