It is not a lifetime license, contrary to the description. After installation it says 365 days left on license.

I’m not sure I’d trust the US Gumint much more than I’d trust any other country. The USA has banned a lot of things, including some of its own citizens, so don’t get overly caught up in

      that

    guidance.

Kaspersky has been in business since the Ark floated and other than the random “US Government banned this” rants, I’ve heard no reliable negative reviews.

Besides, who better to design antivirus software than a former, obviously very successful, security agent.

@ Don: I think the same abundance of caution that applies to the US government is not necessary for the typical private user.

I believe Kaspersky offers a freeware Security Cloud and a paid Security Cloud version. We are getting a giveaway of the latter, are we not? Although if this s a giveaway of the paid version, these conditions are pretty hard to believe:

<This is a 1-computer lifetime, for commercial or noncommercial use
    You get free upgrades
    You get free tech support>

    Free! This is freeware.

Kaspersky Cloud Security is free software that you do not need any license key to register. In other words the free version of the software

It was suggested to me today (09 May 2019) by the sharewareonsale, as a freeware. I did install it but the application is asking for activation code. Is there something to do about this in order to get it to work?

There’s absolutely ZERO WAY that I’d ever allow a company with VERY STRONG Kremlin ties to run software on my systems! That, is lunacy!

A lot of antimalware programs will tell you to uninstall your other existing antimalware programs. Maybe uninstalling and reinstalling the other antimalware program after you install Kaspersky’s will work. I don’t think it’s a good idea to run more than antimalware program at the same time with both having real time protection. You might be able to make the other program a strictly on demand antimalware scanner. That is what I have done with both Adaware Antivirus (this program automatically installs so it won’t conflict with an already existing antimalware program) and Malwarebytes Antimalware Free.
