Unfortunate that this ‘offer’ has more to do with sharp practice than sharpening images. Thanks to Dennis’s review, it’s clear that this is crippleware which is being deliberately foisted on the unsuspecting in order to sell them up to something else. That’s wrong. Software should always but always function as promised, not be dependent on some hitherto unknown, unseen and un-priced extra. The developer of this software doesn’t deserve to see any downloads at all. Perhaps that might teach it that when you play fast and loose with potential customers, all that happens is your reputation gets seriously damaged and anything you produce goes on the computer user’s list of software-to-steer-clear-of. Big fail!Dec 25, 2015 at 10:58 am #3843127JacalGuest
With HQ preview – mandatory, when sharpening – it can be rather slow on older computers, but that is to be expected.
Default sharpening settings seem to be too aggressive, producing halos, but after some tweaking, results are OK.
I have tested this on a 16-bit tiff, exported unsharpened from a cr2 file via Canon’s DPP, but wasn’t able to save edited photo in 16-bit tiff or psd. So it can be actually only used as the last tool, to export final jpg versions of a photo.
For reasons, described by Dennis and Stuart, I wasn’t willing to devote more time to this program, sorry. Maybe it would deserve it. As a demonstration of the power of open-source software, I recommend this short description of RawTherapee’s sharpening tools:

Ehm, I have a problem….maybe….
Once registered with the serial, any fx/preset I go to use, for that preset ask me again the serial registration…..it’s normal???
ThxDec 25, 2015 at 1:26 pm #3843491JacalGuest
unfortunately it is “normal”. This “suite” has 11 modules, and only one, sharpening, is activated with given serial. For other ones, you can enable 2-weeks trial. Since I know I will not buy this software, because I do not need it – and do not like the way it was presented here -, I did not really try other modules for more than five minutes.
Anyway, @Ashraf, thank you, I never pass an interesting photo-editing program. Solstice is over, have all a good day!Dec 25, 2015 at 11:08 pm #3844336DennisGuest
