It might be because your computer doesn’t have enough video memory.
Does your computer have 4GB of video memory?

    Who programmed this? A 10-year-old?

Look: the window only has one menu, called… “menu”…
Inside, there’s no GPU option or anything.

If I resize the window, only its border expands: the displayed lines remains just as small…
On Windows 10 Pro + RTX 5070 Ti, I tried to convert a 1080p video: the program told me “using nvidia GPU (vulkan)” and crashed right after. LOL.

What a load of crap! Uninstalled immediately.

[@bill qu] should not matter what size of dedicated video RAM is available as the program is supposed to fall back to CPU only processing if there is insufficient GPU resource type or specification remember they specifically boast about it:

Smart Hardware Acceleration: Automatic CUDA, Vulkan, and CPU fallback cascades ensure lightning-fast processing while preventing system crashes.

Not exactly supportable as you can be assured that with GPU acceleration it will be slow and if it has to fall back to multi-core CPU it WILL BE SLOOOOOOOOOW processing never lightning-fast processing as it’s based upon individual raster frame upscaling so has to be decoded into masses of rasters/bitmap images, processed one frame at a time and then finally lossily re-encoding the video from the upscaled raster images and merged back with the audio streams.

This is a very early version, design bugs have yet to be cleaned up… Bug 1 this program is I believe closed source so it is incorporating the WRONG build of FFMPEG.EXE and FFPROBE.EXE as they have incorporated the GPLv3 edition of the code which is illegal if this is a closed source product. They should use the LGPLv3 build of FFMPEG executable and include the relevant license files as well as giving attribution to FFMPEG.ORG. Bug 2 it requires restart after offline activation of the license… that is so 1990s, no restart should be necessary. Bug 3 it requires us to X out of the activation window, clicking on OK should dismiss the activation input box window AND activate the running product live. Bug 4 the default folder it opens when adding one or more VIDEOs is the Documents folder meaning every user that uses this program HAS to navigate to their Videos folder or elsewhere as no organised person puts videos in their Documents folder if they are given a choice…
Bug 5 It does not automatically add an exceptions for windows ransomware protection to allow FFMPEG.EXE to write out the raster streams to a temporary location in the wrong location really it should put temporary files in a subfolder in the users TEMP folder and not a protected location… and it will need write access to a protected location when processing the raster images as that is not done through FFMPEG.EXE and finally for FFMPEG.EXE again to re-encode the final upscaled video and merge the audio stream. Currently it requires one to retry the first upscale at least 3 times as certain stages fail as specific executables get denied write access to protected folders and then need permission being given. It claims it’s using Vulkan GPU acceleration but is ONLY using multi-core CPU resources despite the fact that I have both Nvidia and Intel dedicated GPUs that are more than capable of this operation using other upscaling programs meaning THIS WILL BE SLOOOOOOW! 7 seconds PER frame! It appears the program is caching the frames into a memory array as only temp files that are produced are in the same folder the source video came from (Videos folder) called temp_a.m4a and temp_v.mp4 I deliberately chose a short video as I knew this would be a laborious process so it only has 6131 frames and should take going by previous count.. 11.92 hours… just to upscale, not including the re-encoding and merging of the video and audio streams! that is unworkable amount of thermal stress on the CPU that is not built for such intensive processing on a gaming laptop. I am going to stop this exercise in futility! And of course windows ransomware protection kicked in on stopping the processing as it needed to delete the temporary files created by FFMPEG.EXE I mentioned above and could not because pixelup.exe was not given permission to write to the Videos folder… just imagine how pi$$ed I’d be if after waiting more than 12 hours for this round of processing to complete that the whole process would have had to be restarted again as pixelup.exe was blocked writing the memory array to the Video folder prior to merging the two data streams… to get the first video upscaled by just 2 it would have taken around 24 hours of high thermal stress on my CPU and all that wasted power. Imagine if I chose x4 or x8 upscaling that is likely done through multiple passes and would therefore take multiple days to complete one short video! I have to delete thos temporary mp4 and m4a files manually and I’m uninstalling this as it needs to use better GPU coding that functions in more controlled manner… let us choose which computing unit we use as CPU usage is atrocious.

Worked well here, resolution was doubled. But took half a day and heated the computer to oven temperature.

The computational load is heavy, so the GPU temperature will rise.
Be sure to keep the air conditioning on while using it.

Amazing program! Make bigger with good quality. Really “must have”. Thanks to developers and to Mr Boss of sharewareonsale.com
