[@Stu] Dropbox/Google Drive/OneDrive are slow because that’s how Dropbox/Google/Microsoft designed those cloud drives — it is not controlled by Replicaro. It is hard to say if you are experiencing expected slowness or if you ran into a bug. However, I am releasing v1.0.1 in a few hours that has a couple bug fixes, so try that once it is ready if your Google Drive connection is stuck.
Can you please indicate of there is a storage size limit? I could not find this critical info.
This info is very important for us users.
Thank you.As I understand it there is no size restriction on storage imposed by the program BUT individual cloud providers will have their own individual limits even if it’s just the amount of storage space you’ve rented from them!
the portable zip file is NOT portable because it extracts to “C:\Users\[WINDOWSLOGINNAME]\AppData\Local\Replicaro” and not to the location of the so called portable executable. I see no indication if this supports VSS to allow opening of in use files or real-time backups that monitor the jobs files and folders for changes and runs the backup job when a change is detected and only backs up the changes… This is NOT a standard backup program but is web page controlled locally hosted server based application NOT designed to operate as a windows service but a discrete program. When adding a vault and one is required to choose a location… the folder browsing user interface has no control to create a new folder and rename it. One can only choose from pre-existing folders. Entering a folder name manually in the path input box is ignored when i finally decide on a folder to use I get no initial warnings but when I try to make the vault I am confronted with an error warning:
“Replicaro requires an empty location to create a new vault, but the selected location is not empty. Select an empty subfolder within this location or select a different location.”
Errr why am I told that then and not when selecting the folder location? And obviously if this needs an empty folder then that information should given up front AND the UI should provide the facility to CREATE an empty new folder.
Also I chose a vault name that if it’s used in the naming of the vault in the filesystem should have produced an error “1st:vault” the colon character should not be usable as a file name, is there a need for sanity checks on the vault name? Answer no the vault name is not used in a file or folder name so can use special characters such as “:” etc. It is ONLY a manual or scheduled backupper and does not have a file/folder exclusion list when defining a backup set so programs that abuse the Documents folder by sticking executables and data files in subfolders of the logged in users Documents folder cannot be excluded from the backup set so all the more reason to never use pcwinsoft programs! as they waste Document backup space with program files and pirated copies of FFMPEG.EXE etc. I’ll stick with ashampoo backup pro 26 giveaway… I don’t think it does support VSS opened file access either but it does support real-time change monitoring and backing up and exclusion lists for unwanted data and executables placed in the wrong locations by bad developers. And does support a wide range of cloud storage providers out of the box.
