Seems like a useful little program, but is it better than the free program “Everything”?
I’ll definitely try it out in that case. Maybe a good complement to Everything?

Re: Is it better than the free program “Everything”?
    Yes it is.
You’re missing the basic point of this program — not surprising, given the extreme verbiage of the person who writes the descriptions!
Example: Years ago you wrote something that briefly mentioned Grandma’s rocking chair. With this program you would search for the phrase “rocking chair” and it would instantly find all files with “rocking chair” in it.
Everything Search finds only file names, not file contents.

    published:
    “Supports Windows 7, 8/8.1, 10, and 11 (32-bit and 64-bit)”

is inaccurate again, it installs just fine under Vista too. It will not run under XP as the installer ans main executable is built to require NT6.0 due to changes in the development environment used to build them.

[@Bruce Fraser] Your “review” of the product is that you intend in the future to try it out?

[@pnj] Yes, but will it run in Windows 3.1?

What languages can the program search within?

    Is it only English?

[@Tayseer] No, it can search text in any language, as long as the file is encoded in UTF-8, ANSI, or another format with a proper BOM (byte order mark).

That said, we plan to improve search functionality for non-English languages. For example, searching for cafe-theatre will also match café-théâtre, and vice versa. This feature is already available in some of our other Vovsoft applications and is currently being implemented for this program as well.

Does it work on .pdf files?

[@Larry] Yes, the software includes built-in PDF engine. It can also read Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email files when these formats are enabled from the Options menu.
Please note that searching file types other than plain text may slow down the overall search performance.

Thank you Vovsoft for sharing this program.
    The program seems good.
Notably, it’s possible to search within a selection of files using a filter.
But unfortunately, it’s not possible to exclude files from the search using a filter (for example, not searching in jpg, png, gif, xlsx, etc. files).
Furthermore, the PDF file search option only offers one among 3 methods exclusively : plain text PDF, or PDFium, or xPDF, but not all three simultaneously. Personally, I don’t know how the PDF files on my hard drive are encoded.
Perhaps the next version will include these improvements.
