Used this a few years ago. New computer working fine. Did a HD defrag and had to take it in for repair. They said this software had caused numerous problems and I had to have a fresh 8.1 loaded and start over. No communication support from this incompetent/fraudulent company. BEWARE!

Have used this for 8 years and never gave me one problem. I recommend it. From XP to W7, it just works.

    Be warned with this product

Had terrible experience with it and like others mentioned pathetic support. If they don’t know how to fix your issue they will either suggest do a clean install and remove other programs or won’t respond. They will never admit its the problem with their product.

Warning! I bought Iolo System Mechanic 15. It required restart but damaged boot sector of hard drive. Iolo escalated my case but have not replied since. It’s 14 days since. Lack of Customer support is especially disappointing.

iolo System Mechanic trashed my Windows 7, even blowing out a RAM partition that I’ve used for several months. Some software programs would no longer launch, etc. Fortunately I had, on another disk, a very recent system backup. Be sure that *YOU* do a full system backup *BEFORE* installing iolo System Mechanic so as to actually *RECOVER* from a potential major mess-up! I’ve used the free edition of Macrium Reflect for several years; it’s truly great. Also when I installed iolo System Mechanic some months ago I could not at that time boot my machine. I got a BSOD at every attempt to boot into Windows 7.

    Dear admin,

I feel the need to warn you for this program. Some years ago I bought a license from System Mechanic. At first it seemed to be a good program. But afterwards it appeared to be malware. What’s up? This program generates viruses itself and then they “detect” alot of malware. I wasn’t able to remove the program from my computer and I contacted their support team. They would help to remove it if I would pay a sum for that. I do no more know how much money they asked for it happened more than 10 years ago. But this has really happened. I didn’t pay but I tried manually to remove the register keys and after that I used several programs to clean up my computer. There were lots of viruses left on my computer and it took some time to get my pc virusfree. So I want to warn you for these practices. You better don’t offer this dishonest program.

    With kind regards,

Mrs W B van de Weg – van Uden

I have had several versions of System Mechanic in the past on various Windows systems. The tools seemed very useful but there was always something that crashed either the SM software or the system itself. I eventually stopped using SM in favor of other maintenance software like Glary. I just loaded this SM15 onto my Win10 machine to give it another try. I have run it through several deep scans. So far it has worked fine and it does offer a big box of tools. If it remains stable this will be my “go to” maintenance suite. I’m tentatively rating it 5 stars and keeping my fingers crossed that no stability issues arise.

Installed easily. No bloatware included. I’ve used this program before and always thought it was top notch. It still is! Easy to use and runs fast. It’s increased my speed significantly, and streamlined my startup. I would certainly recommend this program to anyone who wants to maintain their system in top notch shape.

    iOlo,

    Six months is six days!
    Greedy developer!
Is your program an antivirus? Is it a VPN service? Is it a paid content service?
    Why only by subscription?
Would you like to live by subscription?
Why is not Windows XP Windows Vista supported?
You spit on users and hurry for a new one?
This is all wrong – all your politics!
I’ll have to look for another program.

Every time I try to install it give me a message of “Unexpected problem was encountered, download information was not located for product, please re-try download”

What good is a giveaway that you can’t install

Automatic “anything” maybe okay for Grandma’s computer, but software alledging to be a system mechanic should approach every nuance of computer operation as unique and that to be precisely controlled by the operator (by the software). Thus, anything “auto” makes this toolbox, or any toolbox software, objectionable from the get-go.

Despite its reputation, which appears more a historical anecdote than a current reality, sys mech is (was?) a good idea. But it seems its corporate IT left its commonsense at home sleeping when it produced the past few versions.

Something more than sales of updates (which should never be a selling point; if they couldn’t get right with version needing the update why would the updated version be any closer?) has to motivate software developers. Every product has a saturation point; any needless additional modules is not a solution. And not wanted. It is an irritation. Despite its insecurity and lack of logic, the Windows OS works at least marginally without this or any tweaking software.

If I were a developer, the only viable project (and the most rewarding) is building a replacement OS for win10. Microsoft OS, more than any other software, needs replacing not tweaking. ©2017
