GuestQuite a nice little program. Thank you to Vovsoft and Sharewareonsale

Guestfound a bug… if you import via the Entry menu the program does not set the flag that the entry has been modified like it does if you manually change it or Import via the File Menu. The bug lets you close a changed entry without being prompted to save or discard changes or cancel. Doesn’t let you encrypt you tree of notes… same error after having set Auto Save on Exit it does not save it when an entry is imported and no other changes are made. Cannot CTRL-Z undo an import… only typed characters word count is not performed after importing via entry menu import nor the chars value and auto-save periodically says it auto-saved but the default.vtn file remains untouched unless I save manually. Seems word count and chars are not updated unless Modified flag is set and neither is auto-save periodically done if Modified is not set… that type of strategy only works if Modified flag is activated under all circumstances when the tree notes are changed in ANY way. So strictly speaking it’s not working on a strict period of time but only if there was a modification then an indeterminate amount of time later it auto-saves and resets modified flag and if you are still typing it will start the countdown to auto-save again and so on… It feels to me the frequency of auto-saves is a bit too frequent and on a slow filesystem might cause glitches while typing continuously.

Guest[@TK] another odity when Importing via both File and Entry menus the default filter is supposed to be txt, rtf, docx, html
It also shows Internet shortcut vovsoft which has no file extension! And is certainly no a txt, rtf, docx or html file. For some odd reason it is confusing a shortcut for an html document and not opening the page linked to by the shortcut. So it’s doing the worst of everything opening a useless short cut file as a document when it’s supposed to be only showing *.htm and *.html files actually the *.htm file mask used is *.htm? and a file.htmd shows op in the open dialog… rather than specifying the TWO file types explicitly i.e. both *.htm or *.html or *.txt or *.rtf or *.docxEven selecting *.txt or *.docx file masks still shows internet shortcuts. It does not show program shortcuts just internet ones… maybe the file open method he’s using is confusing internet shortcuts for folder shortcuts as they are visible in the file open dialogs?
The keep a backup of the file does not work properly it literally keeps a copy of the current saved vtn file as the vtn.bak file… that’s pointless the vtn.bak should be the previous copy of the vtn file that just got overwritten by latest save so there’s always one level of backup in case the entry I added messed something up… I don’t need a copy of the messed up auto-saved vtn file.
I note it allows multiple instances using the same vtn file… maybe that’s the reason for the “Monitor for external file modification” Setting that is selected by default. I’m certain that is asking for file sharing violations or potential file corruption if two or more instances try to save the file at the same time… that should get very messy as it’s not using a multi-user database format!
I’ll stick with allmynotes as my main note taking windows program as it’s proprietary database format has self-repair built in as well as strong encryption if I want it.

GuestI note that shareware on sale licensed giveaways cannot vote for the feature request, on vovsoft site, they want as we don’t get a license code like other giveaways do and a valid license code is required to vote for a specific feature on a program.
