I tried several times, but the download is the text of the file and not the ( .exe ) as indicated.
This is using an old version of chrome web engine to be compatible with windows 7 (Chrome/96.0.4664.93) this means some websites will not work properly with it and it has security vulnerabilities that have not been fixed so be sensible where you take it on the internet! use at your own risk!
This does not capture video in the normal sense it captures the URL’s of media files and then offers to download them which means it does not capture streaming services, just on demand videos. There is no UI to start the capture of a playing video and this being a closed source program is pirating GPLv3 build of FFMPEG binaries and distributing them illegally without attribution or one thought for the license conditions.
[@TK] I note this uses several binaries from Ant Download Manager… I doubt they have permission… or care one way or the other!
The no free updates clause of this giveaway will render it useless as the download engine is only updated by full program updates, they do not update the download engine independently or for free unlike those video downloaders that use the yt-dlp.exe download engine. You can see how often they have had to update the video downloader for the version history on their download page.
TK has some valid criticisms, but to be fair VCap does allow successful download of many videos that Ant does not.
Will you please stop with the phone book size AI blather? Just give a concise description of a program like you used to.
[TK] We’re regular users. We need the software to do its job. This program is good at downloading lots of videos. Why do we need to know its interactions with other projects and tools, since it’s given to us for free? Its sole purpose is to capture videos, not to navigate websites, download other content, or install extensions. Personal information isn’t entered or accepted here; you can’t enter your login or connect to your email account, etc. What’s the point of tinkering with its engine, modules, or algorithms, even if you’re writing it all correctly?
We’re not geeks, just regular users.After analysis with two different antivirus programs, both reported the presence of malware.

https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/aeabce11a11f86227e8d1ff8eb871005c49b6d690e793d044818da5580fe7292[@Lex] It uses an embedded browser that is insecure and out of date to “capture” video URLs from web pages not supported by traditional youtube download algorithms (Ant Downloader Manager) binaries that means it leaves you vulnerable to malicious adverts if you don’t want to know about serious gotchas with the software you get for nothing just skip my posts, I won’t mind but those that care about their systems and their data and possible software piracy by the developers which suggest they are not worthy of our trust to let their code use our machines can read and learn. They say ignorance is bliss… but only until you get bit by the nasties out there in the world.
[@Charles] ALL antivirus programs are retrospective in their detection, without a malicious already being out there in the live piece of malware it cannot be examined and a suitable pattern generated to match it… to try and counter that anti-malware software uses heuristics to try and predict in the absence of evidence the chances an executable might be malicious but rarely presents the reasons behind its accusations. NO anti-malware software or hardware can prove ANY software is 100% clean or safe.
