Reviews for Atlantis Word Processor
This is a wonderful program and they support and update it with better functions, and clean bugs. Does what it says and I use it all the time. Small footprint and supports many formats. Thank you for providing it.
Installed Atlantis Word Processor in my USB drive. Thanks to SharewareOnSale for this giveaway. Good for occasional use. I chose the green colour theme. Now I use Ms Word for everyday word processing duty. If I compare the two, Ms Word is better. But Ms Word is not the best. Among the word processors I have used, WordPerfect is the best. If you want serious word processing power and precision control get WordPerfect. One of the worst word processing software I have ever used is IBM’s Display Write which was coded by an overpaid geek to be used by robots, not humans.
Hello. Good Day;Thank you Only Best Software World. good job.
Thanks to the programmer, able, always, success and win.
Congratulations to you and all your esteemed colleagues.
amazing! Unlike other apps, uncomplicated! good job.
This app is very nice, no ads, no accident, no bug, just great!
Thanks for the Giveaway.
This app is more than 5 stars.
have a nice day.
I use it frequently, but I miss the Brazilian Portuguese dictionary to be the best application in the segment.
It would be interesting to translate commands into other languages, especially in Brazilian Portuguese.

They made a joint Portuguese PT-BR PT-Portugal dictionary. It works OK for most stuff. (go to the download page). But I don’t think they understood that they are completely different languages. Some common words in Brazilian are very offensive to the Portuguese (and vice versa)
See https://www.atlantiswordprocessor.com/en/forum.htm in “feature requests”
Request – A Brazilian-Portuguese spellchecker
I’m sure you can download a huge variety of dictionaries from within the app.
I’ve installed this before, so I was glad to see this offered again. I installed this within minutes, registered it with the code, tested with a copied block of text. Edited this in various ways and created some new customised text colours. The 2-page view was useful and helped me edit the long text block. The Save As setup kept offering me a default location for documents, but a drop-down list showed where I had saved before. So that was a workaround for me. Apart from these tests, I already installed SkyFonts to help me install and use even more fonts. So it helps to test these with a larger font size to really see the details and then find suitable fonts. I also know that some fonts are more wider spaced across the same line, so these may help when we proof read text. I use wordpad classic rather than the later version. For that, I use the RTF file format. So because of that, I didn’t want to use Atlantis as a default program for my RTF files. That’s why I chose Atlantis just for the DOC formats. I like calligraphy fonts and wanted to see a page preview like Atlantis offers us. It’s good to have an alternative to the bloated office software. Thanks for the email notifying me of this sharewareonsale offer.
A word document is an editable file format, it has been around for long and is still one of the most used file format for documents. The ability to edit the word format makes it possible and allows for creation of good-looking professional documents. It gives you the ability to add images, videos, shapes, charts, tables and much more.
Atlantis Word Processor, as it name suggests, is an application that comes packed with word processing tools. It is light-weight yet powerful enough, and can help users edit and create word documents easily and efficiently.
Installation & Set-up
The installer size is only ~3MB and the installation process is simple taking no time at all. After the installation, you can straightaway launch it and start using it. For the users with registration, they can easily register it by entering their registration information. The application needs to be restarted after registering.
Pros
Clean & Intuitive UI
The UI of this application is pretty clean and arranged well. Using the application for the first time, most users would feel the UI to be familiar and easy to navigate through. As usual, at the top is the menu bar with it’s drop-down menus, followed by the toolbar which is broader than usual. Each section of the toolbar expands to display more options and tools when you hover your mouse over it. On the left-side is the ‘Control Board’, that lists bookmarks, headings, styles etc.
The UI of this application can be customized to suit the users needs. You can change color schemes, sound schemes, and also create your own. You can customize the menus, hotkeys, toolbars and toggle them ON/OFF as you wish to. Moreover, you can switch the viewing mode to fullscreen so you are not distracted by other things being displayed on your screen.
Great Features
The application comes packed with a great variety of word processing tools. It can perform all the basic functions that you would expect a word processing application to perform. It also comes with handy features like spellcheck, autocorrect and displays your writing time alongwith the rate of writing as words per minute. Moreover, for the advanced writers and editors, this tool can help highlight if the word is repeated multiple times in your writing. It can also suggest you to use a synonym of that particular word.
Support for multiple formats
Multiple formats are supported including RTF, MS Word DOC 6.0/95/97/2000/XP/2003, DOCX, ODT, etc. Graphic formats that can be added to the documents are BMP, EMF, WMF, JPG, GIF, PNG, PCX, TGA, TIF, PCD, etc. Moreover, batch conversion is supported which allows for conversion of multiple documents to other formats together.
Works smoothly and uses less system resources
The application runs smoothly using low amount of CPU and system memory. I did not experience any crash or freeze at all. The application is fast-loading, and opens quickly as compared to other applications of this category.
Cons
Annoying Sounds
The application has typewriter sound effects and starts producing clicking sounds every time you start typing on the keyboard. I found this really annoying and distracting, and felt there is no need of it. However, there is an option to disable the sound effects in the software’s settings.
Conclusion
Atlantis Word Processor is a word processing application that is capable enough to be used as one’s default document editor. The fact that it is lightweight and has a fast loading speed may even make some users prefer it over the Microsoft Word. It also comes with a few very useful options that are not even available in the Microsoft Word. It is definitely worth trying.

Malik, if the typing sound can be turned off, how is that a Con? Some folks like the sound of a typewriter and personally, I let it get clicky. Lets me know it is working, just as does my mechanical keyboard.
Your “Con’s” paragraph is just whining. Turn off your sound. Problem solved.
Update to comment: There is the option to uncheck “Basic Sound Scheme” at time of installation. You were NOT paying attention to the information panels as it installed.
No-nonsense features, small footprint (i.e. tight code), Atlantis is the best standalone word processor you can get (and yes, it does tables!)
Very fast and has variety of functionalities …Although it doesn’t have macro, but it is best for general word processing . It can handle huge word document files with ease, while opening which even MS Word and other word processors become unresponsive and laggy. Love it!
You get what you expect from a decent word processor plus a few nifty automation buttons eg. to insert current date or time or to invert capitalisation and the ones mentioned in the description of the program for authors. You can download dictionaries for spell-checking and there are some useful templates at the site of the program, one that I saw named “chain letter” was hilarious! You can define and save for re-use your own styles for font/paragraph formatting as the default ones are very few.

Some advanced features are lacking eg. marking words for index entries and creating an index table, only table of contents is available.
A rather standard feature however, I could not find: there seems to be no support for inserting tables as well as lines and shading. And help is not built-in but directs you to their site (online help). Because of the lack of table Support I would give it 4/5 stars on a second thought.
Atlantis word processor is a light-weight application that allows you to easily create documents and save them in a variety of formats including .doc, .docx, .cod, and .txt. Although the software features an outdated look and feel, it still delivers powerful editing tools, some of which aren’t available in the leading word processors.
I used Atlantis Word Processor and I was impressed with it. From a speedy installation to ease of use and helpful shortcuts that make work easier, this is undoubtedly one of the best word processors you’ll ever use.
Pros
Light
At approximately 2.5 Mbs in size, its difficult to imagine that Atlantis Word Processor could offer a great writing and editing experience, but it does. Download and installation is seamless and you’ll find it easy to create and edit documents.
Advanced editing features
It features a wide range of editing and proofreading features that would be beneficial to anyone. From auto-complete, and auto-correct to indicating overused words and long sentences, editors will finding it very useful. You can also save a document as a favorite and view your speed of typing per minute.
Compatible with other word processors
You won’t lose formatting when you transfer documents from Atlantis Word Processor to another software editor and vice versa. Besides, you can save created documents in different formats including .docx, .doc, .txt, and .rtf.
Converts docs to ePub
If you want to read your document from an ePub reader, you don’t need an additional softaware for the task. This software will convert it directly to a format supported by the ePub reader.
Tabbed documents
Atlantis Word Processor allows you to open multiple documents at ago and view them via tabs. You only need to click on the document to view it.
Back up
Atlantis Word Processor creates a backup file of your documents so that you can recover what you were working on whether the software terminates or your computer goes off.
Cons
Aged interface
The user interface looks aged and more like Word 2003. The icons are also cluttered making it difficult to choose what you want.
No synonyms
Although it has many editing features, there is no synonym option and no dictionary as well.
Doesn’t support pdf
You can’t directly save a document as a .pdf since this software is not compatible.
Conclusion
This is a great software with most of the things that you’ll need is a word processor. It is fast, light, and performs exceptionally . Although it lacks in some features, it is the best alternative word processor. Definitely worth downloading.

Yes, a Thesaurus can be incorporated as a free add-on.
Thanks, will be adding this.
Thanks, will be grabbing this due to your review, sounds like it does what I need.
I’m a professional writer — I make my living at it — & have tried (& bought) every word processor on the market at some time or another. I don’t consider myself a WP “expert”, but I’m right up there when it comes to knowing what’s important & what’s just fluff. Atlantis has very little fluff. I started my writing career using WordStar for DOS (yes, I am that old). Graduated to Word, which was great for years until Microsoft did what Microsoft does best: take something that works perfectly & mess it up with bloat no one needs & then make each successive version incompatible with the previous ones. I finally bailed on Word after one “upgrade” too many, tried Atlantis, bought it, have never gone back to anything else. It does everything I need it to do superbly, they keep it up to date & current & the tech support is the most awesome out there. They not only listen to suggestions to make the program better, they fix any glitches pronto & work tirelessly to make certain you have a WP that *works*.
One of my criteria for a good WP: comprehensive keyboard shortcuts. I’m a typist & I want to keep my hands on the keyboard at all times, so being able to easily program keyboard shortcuts is imperative for me — in fact it’s a make or break feature — so I can edit & revise on the fly without having to resort to using a mouse.
As for the “annoying noise” sound effects? Easily turned off. Me, I love the “clicky keyboard” sound. I spend large amounts of money for keyboards with mechanical Cherry MX switches to get the same effect I can get with Atlantis for free! In short, try this — you won’t regret it. [No, I don’t work for Atlantis or get paid by them, I’m just a long-time happy customer!]
Purchased Atlantis after using it through another giveaway, very satisfied with the program. Fast loading and lacks the bloat of MS Word. Simple to use but has a few quirks when it comes to pasting text, primarily altering the formatting of the imported text which causes print issues. Easy enough to develop the habit of reformatting the entire document to insure everything is the same. Love the sounds, changed the spelling error sound to a Halloween scream, drives the grandkids nuts when they do their homework.
Today is your lucky day!
Today’s offering will definitely be in the top five downloads that Ashraf brings to you this year.
I have used this word processor for years. It is a joy to use!
I have Microsoft Word on my computer, but once I tried out Atlantis it became my ‘go to app’ for word processing tasks.
For my needs, the only time I had to resort to Word, was when I had to do mail merges for my business, in conjunction with Excel. Other than that, I preferred Atlantis. BTW, this was after being a happy Word user for years and years.
I have heard others complain about Atlantis not supporting ‘tables’. This was not one of my needs, so a non- issue for me.
I don’t have the time today to write up a full fledged review, but I’ll just mention a couple of features to whet your appetite.
Do you find it annoying when you have prepared a document ‘just so’, with the font size, spacing, etc. the way you want and your goal is to have a single page to print out? BUT, it’s a little long, even after adjusting the margins, and it sends the extra to page 2… no problem for Atlantis. When you go to print your document, it will give you a choice, asking if you want to print the page with additional scaling. If you choose yes, voila! Your doc will print on a single page! This will also work if you have a page of images to print. I love this feature and make use of it often.
Another little annoyance that Atlantis takes care of. I hate it when I double click a word, when I’m going to underline for emphasis. In most programs, (Hello G-Mail!), it also highlights the space AFTER the word! (You don’t want to underline an empty space, so you have to edit it). Does NOT happen with Atlantis! When you double click a word it only highlights the word itself. A little thing yes, but a particular pet peeve of mine.
Don’t see the editing option you’re looking for in the toolbar? Hit the control key twice and it will toggle ANOTHER toolbar for lots more options. Finished? Just hit the control key twice again and it will toggle back to the default toolbar. BTW, the toolbars are highly configurable for whatever options are important to you.
Atlantis is all about the details. Many subtle differences that make it unique. Take some time to explore it and I’m confident you will discover you enjoy using it as much as I do.
They have been promising tables for years and years but have never done anything to provide this vital feature. Their forum is full of complaints about this but their replies are irrationally agressive.

From the forum “The new version of Atlantis Word Processor with table support is now on its final stage of development. It will be released for beta testing on March 31, 2016.”
Atlantis added tables to its many features a few versions back . . . just about the time I stopped updating it. Once the developer removed the help file, putting it online, I was through with it. I do not want to open a browser every time I need to look up how to do something.
Somebody mentioned the UI. Personally, I liked the UI, but I’m a ribbon hater. Especially with a word processor, the less real estate used by the application itself, the better.
What do you mean:
Even since version 2.0 the CAN create and work with tables!
e.g. look here: https://www.atlantiswordprocessor.com/en/help/table_creating.htm
Beside this:
Atlantis is a very small, lightning fast tool – built extremely focused on best usability.
That´s why I love it since their early versions!
Only few people need more – most of them even much less…
Thank you for giving away that pearl!
@Ashraf and/or @CraigPlease
Please correct or delete this comment:
We no longer have 2016 – since many years tables ARE supported!
….BTW: Atlantis is really great – I am using it since years !
Fast and good. Simple to learn. Lots of supported formats. Small size on HDD. Must have for all.
