Reviews for CrazyTalk Animator
As more individuals become interested in animation, settling on one animation tool may not be as easy as it seems. Point in case, opting for CrazyTalk Animator Standard aims to bring a breath of fresh air in the animation space. This tool has options to apply 3D motions to 2D characters in simple steps. In so doing, it does not compromise on the quality. Here is what I found out about the animator after using it.
At a Glance
Given this animator’s installation file size, a fast and stable internet connection will come in handy. The installation steps are wizard-guided but you will need to register for an Reallusion account to get the serial number. Just like most graphic and animation tools, CrazyTalk Animator Standard requires Direct X to work.
After you complete the installation process, the main window will display a couple options that include Product demos and Training resources. If you are interested in animation and just starting out, the resources will be resourceful indeed. In addition, this application has a rather intuitive interface with well-arranged options that makes it easy to start off your animation project.
Pros
Handy Training Resources and Project Demos
Right of the box, it is clear that CrazyTalk Animator Standard seems to give beginner animators a good head start. On running the tool, you will get a pop up window with links to Reallusion’s website. The account you created to get a serial number will come in handy in this case.
Small Learning Curve
In addition to its ready learning resources, CrazyTalk Animator Standard has a load of options that only require few clicks to get the job done. You can easily drag and drop actors, props, scenery and event attachments to the main stage. Such simple steps to come up with animation projects makes this tool appropriate for any animator regardless of the skill level.
Export High Quality Projects
To start with, you can export your projects as Videos, Image, or for the Web. These options already make this animator flexible for different usage needs. As a way of ensuring your animation time does not amount to something sub-standard in terms of quality, CrazyTalk Animator Standard allows you to export up to 1080p videos.
Wide Array of Project Templates and Actors
You will not have to spend a lot of time thinking about creating your project templates. That is so because this software has a pretty good collection of preset actors and templates that only require drag and drop or double clicking.
Con
Further Registration to Access Some Actors
I have to give credit to the existing collection of preset Actors that come with CrazyTalk Animator Standard. However, there are number of notable Actors that require users to complete further registrations steps to access. Examples include Humpy and Lumpy actors. You will also get disappointed when you want to use some project templates like Globetrotters 05 that is in the Bonus Content that require registration.
Verdict
CrazyTalk Animator is a great addition to the animation field based on its ease-of-use and ton of creating, editing and manipulating 2D animations. If you are a novice animator, this Standard version would be your perfect entry into the animation world. It is worth a download and try.
Animations have always been a shaky ground requiring powerful machines and great dedication to learning the skill. That’s the path we’ve had to walk if we stick to mainstream animation tools. CrazyTalkAnimator seeks to make the difference with 2D animations from 3D layers. At a glance, the product is amazing and looks professional enough and the effort that goes to making the animations is bearable to beginners.
Pros
Realistic Animations
2D animations have an inherent weakness in general motion fluidity and scene change continuity. CrazyTalkAnimator has a way of letting you manipulate your objects in a 3D environment before rendering them to 2D characters that when viewed from 10 different angles still have the power to hide the jumpiness of 2D animations. The result is a more realistic look at less the effort since you won’t have to tangle with complex 3D animation to achieve this.
Stable and Reliable
Most animation software behaves like PC video games. It’s graphics, processor and RAM intensive and will sometimes crash as it pleases. I tried CrazyTalkAnimator on a core i3 system with 8GB RAM and no dedicated graphics card and I still turned out fine. I didn’t register even one crash (could be because my projects weren’t really that huge) but still that is impressive for such a software.
Prebundled animation
Starting out could be a bit tricky. Mostly, you will need all the help you can get. This ranges from fabricated characters to animations that go through basic actions. This could reduce your project time or give you the chance to slope the learning curve to your favor. Coupling this with clever solutions like the text/speech-to-lipsync algorithm and you have the chance to awe your audience without breaking any sweat.
Comprehensive manual & useful community
The learning curve is everything here. If you are a beginner, be ready to go through a couple of tutorials before you can get your first good looking animation up and running. What I loved about CrazyTalkAnimator most isn’t on its design and build. It’s in the strong forum/community and tons of documentation and tutorial videos out there. You have all it takes to go pro. All you need is some patience and time to follow the hints and pointers.
A couple of Export Options
Once you are done with the project, you could either export it as a video using some of the popular video formats or choose to create image sequences if you aren’t saving any audio. This coupled with the robust control over framerate and resolution puts you in control of whatever you are making. You can even export to web and create an HTML page to embed the video if you please. Quite neat and convenient.
Cons
The Standard Version is a bit limited
There’s a couple of things, like creating my own characters and advanced customizations I couldn’t do with my software. A quick check online and I found that it’s because I’m on a standard license. The full license unleashes awesome powers if you want to dig deeper but this standard will still give you amazing results if you use your creativity and the available limitations well.
Verdict
CrazyTalkAnimator is amazing. It is the perfect solution to animators who can accept the shortcomings of 2D animation but are still willing to make their work look presentable that the mean average 2D animation. It will give you that extra punch without pushing you to the limit with a steep learning curve or heavy demand on your system.
