Text editor with helpful features.
Text Edit Plus is a simple but powerful plain text editor with helpful features. It is a lightweight tool that enables users to easily create new text documents or modify existing ones. The application is designed as an alternative to Notepad, by offering a wider set of features.
The software is a general-purpose editor and useful for anyone who regularly works with text documents. Its analysis module can be valuable when quick statistics on text documents are needed. The ability to compute word frequencies can make it a very good educational tool since it allows teachers to easily spot and quantify repetitions.
Text Edit Plus comes with a clean and simple interface that newcomers will find very easy to grasp. The application can load various standard text files, such as TXTs, CSVs and HTMLs. A lot of quick-edit functions can prove invaluable when small fine-tunes are needed.

Reviews for Text Edit Plus 12
This is a handy addition to any writer’s toolkit. The analytical tools alone are worth the price of the software.
If it included a thesaurus and a rhyming dictionary it’d be PRICELESS!
I am not at the point to have done some new extended tests…
… BUT
After a long time I have downloaded this evolved version of “Text Edit Plus” and I found, it deserves art least a correction of my old rating:
Especially I was glad to notice, that a ( to me ) essential feature now works ! : Ctrl-Z and Ctrl-Y (go back and forth within your editing process)!
To me only that already results clearly in shifting the former rating from 3 to (at least!) 4 stars.
To Ashraf: it is a pity, that no one could adopt a former review and rating: very often products evolved and deserve often a substantial better rating than in the former review…
Perhaps you could build in such a possibility – to me it is a bad feeling, that old “negative” reviews last here forever….
Kind regards
wosa
It is a simple text editor, which is your proposal, but with very interesting features, which makes it a great option.
I am testing and I have approved everything.
One thing that developers could think about this product: internationalize. Like other software, the editor could have versions in other languages. The translation, in general, is done by users.
I recommend this editor.
Can sort lines by line length. This is a big deal and important when you need it.
After installation, the Text Edit Plus executable file attempted to bypass my firewall – for me, that is a BIG NO-NO!!!
Yes, but what it DOES do, and what so many of the others don’t, is allow with just a click to “delete empty lines.” To be able to tighten up those spaces, which can be large depending upon the whim of the original author, is valuable. The control Z issue you mention, cannot comment since have not encountered. Possibly if they read, they will address.

That can do Notepad2 as well! (and afaik notepad++ and others, too!)
And note:
It is advertised as an EDITOR – but an editor should go back and force in your editing activity, even as much as you like!
Notepad, Edxor (and others…) of course DO that, too test it !
No spell check. A fatal omission. Cannot compare to Editpad.

Oh, please. If no spell check makes this “fatal,” then what of all the others, most of them in fact, which don’t have it either.
The program now includes a spell checker.
That’s simply not true. There is a fully-featured spellchecker built-in.
While this offers some special feature (font/font size, asci graphics import and more) it lacks a feature which makes it for me a no go:
Ctrl+Z lets you go only one single step back with this common hotkey combination :(
Until they fix this I would suggest (not exclusively, but just as some examples): Notepad2, Notepad++, or, very special but super tiny but very smart: edxor.
Final conclusion [- perfectly subjective :-) ]
Until now just a middle class editor.
