Reviews for WinToHDD Professional
Powerfull but not easy to use because of a painfull gui.
Very good software, it helped me install windows quickly. Thanks very much
So my PC has some issues and I was thinking about reinstalling Windows anyway so I DLed this and on the first attempt, I select reinstall. The next window asks which image file I want to install with nothing in the box and defaulting to my Documents folder to search for it. I’m relatively experienced and couldn’t find one on the PC anywhere. The image file certainly isn’t in nor would be in my documents so the program should default to wherever this file is if it’s actually on my HD. I tried using the walk through provided on the page that popped up but though that was nice, it wasn’t helpful . Excellent idea but in my opinion, for inexperienced users, this would be an unusable program.

Without even installing this software. I can say with some certainty that it was asking you for the image of the windows version you wanted to reinstall…
First of all, the program is assuming you know what a “image” file is. You can’t blame the program for your lack of knowledge. Second, a image file is a digital image copy of a Windows install CD or DVD. They can downloaded from the web, or you can create one using the appropriate software and a physical Windows CD or DVD. it’s always a good idea to create one in case there’s a problem with your CD/DVD drive…
1. the vast majority of people do a back up on install these days because windows 10 makes it impossibly easy.
2. Recovering from back is far more superior and important than just randomly resinstalling the OS, then having to install the manufacturers drivers. No one should ever be using generic drivers unless its the last resort, because these drivers are often badly out dated, and they are very basic just to get a device running, often missing other stuff a manufacturer driver would contain!
3. If there is ever a need to reinstall windows 10, people do it via usb, they most certainly dont need a half baked product to do it for them, in this case this product, its very poor.
4. Finally , windows 10 reset and you can keep your files or choose to delete them, and unlike previous versions of windows, it deletes the entire registry during installation. Previous versions never did this and instead over wrote the registry, keeping all the same problems, or it backed it up and then wrote to it for example windows xp. In this version, doing a reset is as every bit as good as doing a fresh install from usb. There is no use for useless products like this, when you can do exactly the same stuff yourself and know what going into the os.

You say “its very poor” sic… Have you used it? Just trying to see where your opinion of one star is coming from. BTW, from the description, it covers Windows OSs other than Win10. “It is compatible with Windows Vista, Windows Vista 64 bit, Windows 7, Windows 7 64 bit, Windows 8, Windows 8 64 bit, Windows 2008, Windows 2008 64 bit, Windows Server 2012, Windows 10, Windows 10 64 bit.” Also, you only mentioned one of its features, it seems to have other uses, one of which is particularly interesting to me right now. Cloning an existing disk to another disk.
All good points RICHU except that the professional version does not support Windows Server (Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, 2016) Operating Systems. You need to buy the Enterprise version for that, See editions comparison here: https://www.easyuefi.com/wintohdd/index.html
Fine for Win 10 but Win 10 is 43% of win computers vs 47% for Win 7
And of course many computes don’t have drives for Win 10 so they can use a utility like this.

This program is for moving existing Windows over to a different HDD drive, so if your currently running out of space on your disc you can migrate everything as it is over to a new larger one. That is the primary use for this product and ones like it. It is also helpful to recover from a serious crash where windows cant or wont open recovery or recovery is damaged.
Not bad except you assume everyone is using Win 10. They are not and other versions of Windows own backup device is a catastrophe waiting to happen, as it just did myself.
Yes you can re-install Win 10 via a USB, but then that circumvents your “don’t use generic drivers” theory as Win 10 comes with just its drivers. You must install manufactures drivers after. And no, doing a reset is not as good as doing a fresh install, or using a device such as Win to HDD to reinstall a previous version. Reset only goes back so far, and can leave that 1 crumb of a miserable malware program lurking. And again, not everyone is on Windows 10.
convenient , useful & power. I do like this !!!
Modern versions of Windows have an option to reset the PC, this solves some issues but sometimes it might not be enough. There are situations when you need to reinstall the Windows, and to do this you need a bootable CD/DVD or USB drive containing all the setup files of the OS.
WinToHDD Professional is a simple and easy-to-use application that can help you install Windows without using a CD/DVD and without going through the hassle of creating a bootable USB drive. However, you may still need ISO image of the Windows to use all the functionality of this tool.
Overview
The download size is small (~8MB) and the installation process is quick and straightforward. The UI of the software application is as simple as it gets and shows only four buttons that take you to the four features that this software provide. All the features and options in this tool are step-guided processes that makes it easier for all types of users even without any experience with this type of stuff.
Features
Clean UI
There isn’t anything else about the UI except the four buttons that initiate four of the features of this tool. These buttons are, namely ‘Reinstall Windows’, ‘New Installation’, ‘System Clone’, and ‘Multi-Installation USB’. Providing a UI as simple as this ensures that the process of Windows installation is easy for all kinds of users.
Install, Reinstall, and Clone Windows
This tool let’s you re-install Windows on your computer, it is better than the Windows built-in reset feature as fresh Windows is installed instead of just resetting the older Window.
This tool also allows you to start a fresh Windows install on a second HDD/SSD. This feature is similar to the Re-install feature with the difference that is allows you to choose a different boot and system partition other than the one you’re currently using.
The clone feature allows you to create an exact copy of the current installed Window. You can make a copy of it on a different partition or on another drive. This can be very useful when you upgrade your HDD to SSD and want to move your system to it.
Create a bootable USB drive
This tool allows you to create a Windows installation USB flash drive to install any version of Windows on both BIOS and UEFI computers.
Many Windows versions supported
It is compatible with Windows Vista, Windows Vista 64 bit, Windows 7, Windows 7 64 bit, Windows 8, Windows 8 64 bit, Windows 2008, Windows 2008 64 bit, Windows Server 2012, Windows 10, Windows 10 64 bit.
Cons
Need to use a separate Disk management tool
I think this tool should have some king of built-in disc management capabilities so that when you need to create a partition for new Windows installation it can be done from inside the tool. It is more of a suggestion than being a con actually.
Conclusion
WinToHDD Professional is a reliable tool that makes the process of installing and reinstalling Windows easier than ever. It contains all the options for many different situations that you might have to face. It is definitely a tool to be kept in your tool box, you never know when you might need it.

Maybe “kinD”, but not “kinG”?
As stated on their website, this version does not support the server editions of windows. Support for server editions is only in the $199 Enterprise edition.
Free Rufus does everything this software does and it does it much quicker and much easier. Just my 2 cents.
