ScanPapyrus lets you quickly and effortlessly scan any paper media including documents, books, journals, magazines, or papyruses and save them to a multipage PDF, DjVu, TIFF, Microsoft Word file or to multiple graphic files.
The Automatic Scan mode makes the paper-document scanning process quick and efficient.
ScanPapyrus uses an intelligent algorithm to split a book spread into two separate pages. It’s quick, easy, and automatic!
Also ScanPapyrus can automatically adjust the resulting image by increasing the sharpness, de-skewing pages, removing gray background, cropping the image, and removing the black stripes produced by the scanner when its lid isn’t fully closed.
Finally it can open any PDF or DjVu file and extract all its pages as images. You can edit the extracted images and save them to a PDF file.

Reviews for ScanPapyrus
Thoughts on ScanPapyrus Ver 20.x after initial use:
Tried this software in both 2018 and 2019 (Thank-you Sharewareonsale!) – but the program offered no advantages over existing ones, so did not keep it around. Alas, that makes Direct Comparison difficult, but Based On Memory, it does appear that ScanPapyrus has upped their game with Ver 20.
Based upon a trial run will keep SPv20 around for for a bit as presents a nice looking interface and promises a couple of features that could be worthwhile (Book Page Split; Variable Delay Batch Scanning).
Debated between 3 and 4 “Stars” for a rating, but went with 4 because I believe the program is worthwhile – especially for anyone who lacks an alternative.
Disadvantages to SPv20 that kept the score down:
1) Major lack is in-built OCR or ability to save scans in Searchable PDF format. NOTE: SPv20 DOES offer an OCR function, but it uses a 3rd Party Cloud Service with a limited number of “Free” OCR conversions.
2) Have not found a setting to Automatically Rotate scanned pages so text is “right side up.” A Post-scan, Page by Page option exists, but that would be very cumbersome given a large scan job.
3) Inconveniences: Help is On-Line only – with no apparent ability to download even a PDF copy of the Help File.
Scanner Selection & Set-up interface seems chunky, as well as the Save Scan To File option. (To be fair, I could be Missing a Set-up option – but if such exists it is not obvious.)
Not counting Scanner Utilities (Epson; Canon; Brother) ScanPapyrus is our Fourth more-or-less competing application, each of which has Advantages & Disadvantages. Of those main 4, SPv20 is probably tied for the bottom slot – but it ALSO carries a Suggested Price tag that is much lower than the top 2. As a Sharewareonsale offer, ScanPapyrus is easily worth a trial – and if it had In-built OCR it would challenge for 2nd spot on our (personal…) list.
Great program, it has everything I need. But I don’t use it, because I found that the editor only works on jpg bases (20.00 version). Whether the original base was png or tif.
After scanning images into tif, but not with this software, the difference is noticeable even for text. True, most users probably don’t care, because they want to use fast and convenient software and scan to jpg anyway.
I’m sorry, because it would be very likeable. I hope they will change that one day.
And there’s a little contradiction with the giveaway version: it contradicts itself after a while. On search, it shows registered, but on exit it says unregistered (sharewareonsale.com – 22.05.2020 was the previous promotion).
An excellent program for scanning, I use it for scanning documents and love the way it converts documents into editable text, not images like so many other scanners seem to do. I lost my original copy due to a computer crash and was so happy to see it here. Thank you sharewareonsale and the programmer for this giveaway.

No Mac OSX support– Only supported for Windows PC.
My Favourite Features

It is definitely recommended for those who want to minimize the time and effort spent on the scanning process.
For book scanning, one major feature to emphasize is the automatical alignment and correction of scanned pages.
Really helpful indeed.
When dealing a considerable amount of work in scanning different types of documents, the need to save them in certain files types on your computer always arises. Depending on the type of scanner you are using, a utility software can come in handy. In this case, I was using ScanPapyrus. I decided to give it a try based on its promising features and ability to scan books, journals, magazines, and other paper documents then saving them in Microsoft Word, PDF, TIFF, or DjVu formats. This is what I found out about the software.
First Impression
After installing and running ScanPapyrus, I noted its striking resemblance to MS Word 2007 based on its main window interface. The options on the interface are well outlined and easy to understand what each one performs. As such, the arrangement allows for a clean arrangement that is also inviting to use. Further, you will only need few minutes to well-versed with this software’s features.
Pros
Impressive Compatibility
I have access to three different types of flatbed scanners. As I had already installed ScanPapyrus on my laptop, I was impressed by how the program was compatible with the three of them without having to install additional drivers or add ons. Further, the list of scanners that are compatible with the software is quite impressive ranging from Canon, Epson, Samsung, Xerox, Hewlett-Packard, to Mustek.
Handy Auto Scan Feature
Some of the documents that I needed to scan were books and journals. While doing so, I was able to take full advantage of the Auto-Scan feature on ScanPapyrus. The way this feature works is that I allowed time to flip over the pages then the scan would take place automatically. At the same time, I was in control in terms of setting the waiting intervals between each automatic scanning.
Quality Scanned Files
Right from the get go, you will notice the impressive quality of the resulting scanned files. This was a plus given the possible mistakes you can do during scanning. For instance, ScanPapyrus ensures it straightens the images as well as removes black areas that usually result because of the scanner’s lid not be fully closed.
Cons
Not Useful in All Cases
When it comes to the value that this software adds, different users will have varying responses. That is based on the fact that some scanners and printers already come with software packages that allow one to save scanned documents in PDF file type. For some users, the extra features that ScanPapyrus has out of the box still gives it the edge.
Verdict
Using ScanPapyrus and enjoying its value depends on what you already have and what you need. If you only want save your scanned documents in PDF and have a scanner or printer that can do that, this software may not be very handy. However, ScanPapyrus’s fast scanning, smart scanning algorithm, automatic scanning, and high quality adjustment features would surely draw you in. It is a worthy program.
ScanPapyrus is a software that enables you to scan documents from your scanner and save them in different formats such as .PDF, .DOCX, .JPEG, .PNG, and .TIFF. This software is compatible with different types of scanners and handles many documents including books and laminated paper. Not only are you capable of converting documents, but you can also use its photo editor to give your files a desired effect.
Pros
Saves high quality documents
One impressive thing about ScanPapyrus is that it allows you to retouch your scanned documents to adjust its quality. Using the photo editing tools is easy and you can save the resulting document in any format, from .doc to .jpg.
Add images to a file
ScanPapyrus allows you to add images to a scanned file from your computer. Easily select an image and add it at the beginning, middle, or at the end of the file depending on your liking. You can also edit the image to fit the document, flip it, or improve its quality before using it. Additionally, it has a preview feature that will enable previewing of the image files before and when you are adding them to the scanned file.
Even after adding the image, you can still save the document as a .docx, .pdf, .png. .tiff, and .bmp.
Automatic scanning
The software performs automatic scanning by commanding the scanner to scan a document after a fixed time interval. If you are dealing with a book that has many pages, this gives you time to turn the pages as well as save you the hassle of pressing the scan button manually every time.
Photo editor
ScanPapyrus doesn’t have the best photo editor in the market, but this software has its fair share of brilliance in improving the quality of a document. You can adjust the background, remove dust, eliminate stripes, and crop the image. You can also get rid of the gray that makes your photo look blurred.
Cons
Freezes at times
Sometimes during scanning, ScanPapyrus will freeze for long period after which you have no option but to shut it down. This happens when you are dealing with large documents.
Conclusion
ScanPapyrus is a good software that will definitely come in handy whenever you need to create a document, image, or .pdf, from your scanned files. It works automatically and very little user input is needed. It is definitely worth downloading.

My HP printer/scanner/fax came with software allowing me to save a scanned page as a pdf, so I’m unsure what advantage ScanPapyrus provides — anything obvious that I’m overlooking?
When identifying issues with a software, it is useful for you the author and discoverer of the issues (even a minor one) to identify the winOS or macOS your are using when testing the product. For those of us who oppose MSFT’s plan to have complete control over personal use of windows through some errant cloud design, we don’t have and won’t use win10.
What winOS are you using?
I urge everyone not to buy into cloud subscription software.
With a subscription in the cloud, unlike a subscription to Wired magazine(for example) where you can still read every issue you have after your subscription expires, when the cloud subscription is over you have nothing. Ergo, the company selling you an external (Internet based) subscription is tendering nothing for your hard earned money. Resist.
Coders: The world needs a new winOS replacement greatly. The Internet would be safer with a dozen popular OS’s…
Post win10: A basic exploitable flaw exists in all winOS’s products in the allocating services script. It is unpatchable. Ergo, win10 will not be the last windows OS. A new winOS is absolutely necessary. Beware; Microsoft is not your friend.
