That sounds like a very interesting feature for NeatMP3 and I will look into it.
    [@Neil P]
Yes, we are aware of that. We have in plan to add the possibility to edit the Track Number tag and also include it in our predefined organize and rename patterns.

A very important feature seems to be missing: I don’t see a way to include the track number as part of the filename.

Just a thought, Cezar. I don’t really need an organizer, but what I DO need is a software that will match sound levels between songs. Some of my music was recorded at a much lower level than other music, so I have to constantly adjust volume between songs in some cases. It would be great to have a software that can go through my music files and adjust the volume levels to some sore of standard. I realize that this would take a lot of time, but a small dedicated program running in the background while I do other things would be a blessing. Thanks!

NeatMP3 uses the tag information of the audio files to organize your music. But what happens if that tag information is missing? Well, then organizing those files with missing tags would be impossible. We had to implement a basic tag editor that would enable the user to fill at least those tags that are required for the organizing process (artist, album, title, year, genre). The automatic online tagging feature is optional and has the role of helping the user fill some of the missing tags. It may not find ALL your missing tags, but it is better than having to fill all your missing tags on your own.

Tag editor is useless and it actually mis-tags files. Developer should take the tagger out and sell it simply as a file organiser.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience. We are aware of this issue that only seems to affect Mac OS X 10.6 users. We are looking into it and hopefully this will be resolved in the next update. Thanks for the feedback.

I’m using a MacPro (early 2008) and running OSX 10.6.8. I downloaded and installed. The program starts up but I can not add files via the add button. The Select One Or More Files to Open window comes up, I can browse asnd select files but nothing happens when I click the Open button. I can not cancel adding either. The dialog box will not go away. I have to force quit the application every time.

(My OS is XP.) Had no problems downloading, installing, and opening program.
It only does one file at a time. I cannot batch-process tag editing.
    Uninstalled. Thanks, anyway.

[@Jackie] You probably downloaded NeatMP3 (the free version that you can download for free from our website). Please download NeatMP3 Pro from this page.

Thank you for taking the time to try out our software. We are very sorry that you did not like it. As for Mp3Tag, I agree with you that it is a very solid music tag editor and renamer. But, you see, NeatMP3 is first of all a Music Organizer and it offers functions that help users order their music files in a logical and easy-to-browse folder structure. These are features that Mp3Tag does not have. So if you are solely interested in editing tags then maybe Mp3Tag is the better solution, but if you want to thoroughly organize your music collection then NeatMP3 is the way to go. NeatMP3 also includes a basic tag editor (which supports Unicode characters) and the option to automatically rename your files during the organizing process. So I think it is a decent solution for setting you music collection straight.

I have a some MP3 that were ripped from a CD and all of them named Track 01.mp3, Track 02.mp3 and so on. I expect this application will look for it’s title and artist name. But it does not. It requires me to enter each of them manually. It is useless to me.

[@onursafi] [@JL] I’m not sure why you two are getting errors because it works just fine for me. Nonetheless, I’ve uploaded a couple of download mirrors — grab it again for us for the download mirror links.

I have been trying to download the NeatMP3 software for nearly 1 day for Windows. But the downloaded file is always missing most of the file. After about 10 tries, I am thinking it is not my PC at fault, since I have downloaded from this site before.
