It charges $29.95 for 1 PC or $49.95 for 3 PC after clicking the “Buy It Now”, not the discounted price.
    Can you tell me why?

    Hi Colin,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I have been using the free (Acronis) Seagate DiscWizard for a few of years now.
(I use the bootable CD, and store in external docks via eSata)
With XP I use an older version.
Unfortunately with Win 7 imaging, I have to use their latest version.
I hate it, as some young programmer (NOT an Analyst) has come up with some smarmy way of showing us our stored images. Makes it hard to understand where they are located, and does not allow us to pinpoint which image we wish to Verify. If you are lucky enough to position on the one you want verified, it says “NO not allowed as that is not your latest image”
Thus, this is why I am looking for an alternative.

    Thanks again for responding,

    Hi Rob,
Sorry you got no replies, but this isn’t the sort of place that people do that….
You really need to look at to get helpful advice – the forerunner of SOS.
This info shows you probably made a good choice.
Personally I’ve always used Acronis True Image (and paid through the nose) it has been the most consistent, while others have let me down in various ways.
Remember – If a backup is important, invest in a ‘spare’ drive and restore the backup to that and TEST IT in the computer – that way you know it will work when you need it.
I always remove the original hard disk and restore using the bootable media, that way the OS can’t get in the way and spoil the operation.
I tried the Aomei software a few versions back, but for some reason (can’t remember why) and I wasn’t converted.
I’ve now downloaded the free version 2, so it’s time to give it a try.
    Good luck :-)

    No one answered my questions
So I downloaded the free program from
AOMEI Backupper Standard XP ETC Includes boot Dsc
I advocate that you’all should do imaging when Windows is closed.
AOMEI gives two versions away for free. (one does all OS, and the other does Win 7/8)
Get the ‘all OS’, as it allows you to create a WinPE bootable CD which is much better than the Win 7/8 Linux CD

PS I have a few old PCs, which can die, thus my need for images.
If I get today’s offering, and create a bootable CD.
Can I use that bootable CD, on any (all) of my PCs ?
Or do I have to buy multiple copies ?

  18. Rob Down Under

    Reply to this comment#29OLD COMMENT

Could someone answer a couple of questions for me re the giveaway -
    - Can it be run from a bootable CD (for doing a FULL image) ?
    - Can one verify that image from the same CD session ?
    - Can one easily navigate to any of your previous images, and choose which one to verify ?
-Is it fairly idiot proof in assisting you to select the desired partition (AND the related MBR, etc) ?

PS I have been using Seagate, and the images are reliable
HOWEVER their latest releases have some smarmy interface which makes it near impossible for you to choose which image to verify. Even if you can navigate to one of your images (say a copy that you have in another drive), it then says “that it not the latest image, so you cannot verify it. AGH!

In big letters, the title is “O&O DiskImage 8 Pro” but in the technical details the version is: 8.5.18.
The confusing is not realy a big trouble.
But, i have read too faster.
There is no need of upgrade.

  20. Ashraf

(Mr. Boss) – Reply to this comment#27OLD COMMENT

[@Tylicia] You don’t really need LapLink if you have this.

[@Nobug] This IS sale of the latest v8.5. And, as stated in the Terms and Conditions above, you get free minor updates. Of course, O&O Software decide what constitutes a minor update but I’d like to think 8 -> 8.5 IS a minor update.

  21. Nobug

    Hi there!
In the shopping cart, when I select the 3 PC license, I am presented with the opportunity to purchase Laplink Image & Drive Assistant for $4.95. When I select this optional purchase though, it shows a price of $44.95???
If I change the quantity of Laplink Image & Drive Assistant licenses to 3, the price for the optional software goes up to $74.90????
Am I doing something wrong or there is an issue with the promo pricing?

I downloaded version 7 for free from here in December. After taking some time to understand the features & help files, I purchased the new version 8 on sale & love it. I would recommend this program to anyone for it’s ease of use & flexibility. I’m a “home” user with average experience using imaging programs.

This offer includes a 3 pc option for 34.95$ which is $14.95 off their regular price – good deal.
This software makes a 1:1 backup, which is exactly what I want in case of the need to swap drives (primary drive failure). Some software does make compressed images but a compressed image backup drive can not be used directly to boot the computer. So I suggest to make a 1:1 image to an external bare drive of equal size or larger than the installed drive. It may seem to take longer but it actually saves time in the event of primary drive failure.

    I have a question.
Can I use this software to do the following:

    1. Install new OS on Drive A
    2. Make and image of Drive A with O&O DiskImage 8 Pro onto a new hard drive (Drive B)
    3. Use Drive B as my new boot drive

I want to reinstall my OS but I want to make a copy of it once installed so in case of crash/problems/etc. I can simply drop in the copied drive and use it as if it were a complete reformat and new OS install.

Thanks for any help you can offer

Thanks for sort-of sorting it Ashraf.
I’d hoped to that the O&O could replace my Acronis 2012, but a quick run with the trial version showed it took >3 hours to image my laptops 58GB to a 48GB O&O image file.
Acronis takes half the time and builds a 22GB image file.
So I’ll stick with ATI 2012 and play with V6 of the O&O so generously discounted…

[@faulkn_c] [@Tom] I’ve updated the page with a coupon code that brings the price to $19.95. Everyone should be able to get it at that price.

I’m not sure why I can purchase it for $14.97 and everyone else cant o_O. Maybe country specific.

I was going to purchase a copy of O&O DiskImage 7Pro, but when I click the button it takes me to the O&O shop where it tries to charge me £19.99.
My maths isn’t good, but $14.97 does not equal £19,99 even allowing for rampant UK inflation.
A 3 user license is also jacked up, priced incorrectly at £32.99.
    Is the pricing country specific?
