[@Ernie F] My difference in version number is partly due to my laziness of not updating what SOS says. Thanks, I’ll fix it. And you are welcome!

    [@Collector] Welcome!

[@Ashraf] So my question to you is: any idea why there are so many variations in version numbers within the same installation?

  5. Ernie F

    Reply to this comment#22

[@Ashraf] Ashraf: I do have a question about version numbers. The listed version number on SoS for the install exe file is v2.0.13.425 and this is same as download directly from Engelmann.
However, when the program installs the program exe file shows as v2.0.13.1118 with a creation date of 1/13/2014.
Then when you launch program and click on ‘?’ and ‘About’ the version number is 2.0.14.113 with a 2013 copyright.
It appears to be the latest version so this isn’t a real problem with program features and capabilities , but it is something of a mystery figuring out exactly which version we have.

I had previous version [2.0.13.704] already installed from July 2013 giveaway. Today’s giveaway installed over it without a problem. Appears to be working fine.

And like others here installation process did not ask for license code. I had gotten new License code before installing today’s giveaway and copied it to clipboard. When program installed it did not ask for license code but appears to be registered and full version –not trial. So my guess is the installer program either accepted prevision versions license or it ‘saw’ clipboard and took the new license code. Hope this info.

Downloaded the installer, scanned the file with Avast, no threat detected. Went to the link for registration, filled in name and email, checked my email, confirmation email received, clicked the confirmation link, page opened with the registration serial number.
Back to Windows, ran the installer as administrator, ignored warning to turn off antivirus software and firewall.
Installation proceeded without problems, when finished installing program was launched and proceeded to launch Internet Explorer even though Firefox was running and is my default browser. No problem closed IE,
copied and pasted the registration, clicked the check registration button, confirmed.
So the download and install was easy, next to try out the program, I loaded a file, set the save directory, dragged the file onto the camera lens image in the center window and moments later had a very impressive result in the preview window. I saved the output as a new file name, and can easily compare the before and after images. This program did a great job on a somewhat hazy image.
So thank you Ashraf and Englemann Software

Never mind, I ended up looking up the error on MS site and it said I probably already had the program. Looked and it was photomizer2se, so I guess this is the same program!

[@Ioannis] Welcome! Happy new year :-)

    [@defenderb] Happy new year :-)

I’m sad to hear the problem it caused you. Good thing you were smart about the restore point :-) FWIW, the software may have already been registered, if you didn’t the trial message.

[@sedeight] Your download is probably corrupt. Try redownloading.

Greetings, Ashraf, and Happy New Year to all

I run a 64 bit Win7 Home Premium SP1 system with 8gb of RAM. The program downloaded easily, and it was easy to follow the instructions and obtain the serial number. I did not like the strong suggestion to disable anti-virus and firewall before installing, but I went ahead and did it after manually setting a system restore point. Thank God that I set the restore point.

The program installed easily. I ran the program and did not see where to enter the serial number, though I acknowledge that I could have just missed it. I checked the help section, which said that an icon on the bar at the top of the main screen would allow me to get to a point where I could register. The help section illustration showed five icons on the bar, but the bar on my program only had four. None of my icons took me to where I could register.

I uninstalled, then tried to reinstall as an administrator. This install failed. I tried again and got the BSOD and just restored my system.

I liked the idea of a photo processing program that gave special help for scanned images, but I’m not going to try again to install this one.

Dear Ashraf, I can down load the file, however when I try to run Photomizer Scan 2, large message box opens and says “Not responding”. I am using Win 7 Home Premium.
    What am I doing wrong?

[@MrTrash] I haven’t tested the program myself so I can’t speak for what it does and what it doesn’t do, but why not scan your photos using your scanner, save your photos on your computer, and then import them into Photomizer Scan 2? It isn’t an absolute must that you must scan photos directly into Photomizer Scan 2.

It is called Photomizer Scan, but don’t have a option of getting the pics from a scanner? Tried now for 30 minutes to get it to work with my scanner, but no luck.

Not too bad and not too over the top. Does its job satisfactorily. For the novice photographer, a simple tool to have in one’s photo kit. For those wanting more features try something else.
