[@JOHN] The drag and drop does not work for me either and I tried with multiple browsers. Instead, goto their browser page and login. Then click on the cloud icon in the upper left, select files, and upload that way.

I can’t get this to work, it downloaded, now when I try to drag and drop a file it doesn’t upload. It just does nothing. Anyone tell me what the procedure is for installing, I have an account page, it looks like it’s working but it doesn’t.

I’m sure this is not the best way to do things if you didn’t get the 30Gb only the 5Gb . Check in your account settings .
I went to Account settings Advance , down the bottom, and delete my account . Removed the download app from my PC and awaited a confirm E-mail my account had been deleted . Went back through the checkout page here and re-registerd the same username account. When I got to the download app page I saw the notice this time (top of the browser) that said I would get the 3OGb and they got my back (or similar) . When I checked through my account, having re-installed the app, it now shows 30Gb storage .
Think its a bug that happens to a few of us.
ShadowRider thxs for the suggestion and Brod we all had our eyes open, dam hard to type your username with your eyes closed !

[@Mr.Dave] Update: The online help page says much more about the desktop app. Looks like you can select which folders you want to use for automated, “continuous uploading.” Sounds good to me! Still can’t download the desktop app, but I’m in no hurry.

I realize that it isn’t going to help anyone with the problems they’re meeting vis-à-vis the vast difference in sizes of available storage, but I didn’t even see anything about 5GB, just 3 options to choose between whilst registering – 30GB, some amount over 100 (can’t remember exactly) and finally 300GB. I’m running Win7 Home Premium and used IE10. Perhaps the developer has followed this thread and made some changes…? Would be nice if they chimed in here to help those who are experiencing difficulties.

Should probably mention that I haven’t yet installed the downloaded software, so don’t know if I’ll meet the same problem as several others once I do.

    Reply to this comment#59

Thanks muchly, this will help a lot! I had no trouble signing up and getting 30 GB (using Firefox in Vista). Adding pics with Drag ‘n’ Drop worked great.

I tried to download the desktop app from the link Adorama mailed me, but it goes to a page with 3 steps of Download, Install, Take some pictures… Nothing to click on, waited several minutes and no download started. If it really does try (as someone else said) to upload every picture on my hard drives without asking or allowing me to select, then it’s a very good thing the download doesn’t work.

I also tried to edit a few pictures and all I got was a spinning “busy” circle, even after several minutes. I’m assuming their server is a bit busy right now but I’m anxious to see what edits can be made.

Overall, a very nice web interface, and 30 GB! Thanks again.

As with many I didn’t get 30Gb showing 5Gb still . I will be patient as they probably need to update a lot of accounts . However as the deadline for registering is currently 12hrs (have registered but no 30Gb) . I ,and I’m sure others, would like to know if there’s something furthur we need to do in order to claim the 30Gb?

That does sound very tempting, but as I can see that Mega is a relatively new site (2014), I’m wondering if you have any previous experience with the providers or know anyone who does? I’ve never used cloud storage myself, so I’ve no experience whatsoever… would like to ‘dive in’ so to speak, but don’t want to go off at the deep end! :o)

You can run the app without letting it scan your hard drive. I unchecked everything.

    [@Dan Zaharia]
The installer installs the app. Unfortunately the app requires .NET 4.x . I don’t think .NET 4.x is supported on WinXP. You can sign up via the web and access it through your browser.

You can always access the site through a browser. You don’t need the app as long as you remember your login info.

    Hope this helps everyone.

Okay, so this is what I did to get the 30GB free; DEACTIVATED the account with 5GB and recreated my account which then offered me the 30GB free. Perhaps the others who did not get the 30GB free can do the same and be offered it as I was. Maybe a glitch (reason most widely used for almost all things going awry) or cobwebs in the ether, either way it worked finally.

Does anyone know where the installer installs to? It’s not in PF or PF(x86) or D&s\users\xxx\etc (as, say, Dropbox is). In addition, there’s no desktop icon, no Startmenu shortcut. So, no way of opening it!!! (if you chose to block startup with Windows).

All those commentors whingeing about 5 not 30 GB: if you’d registered with your eyes open, you’d have seen they say quite clearly, something like, “Don’t worry if it only shows 5 GB: you will receive your 30 GB bonus.” And in any case, you can check your profile account online afterwards and you’ll see the 30 GB allocated there.

Sheesh, all these panicky, fluttery hearts. Just take a deep brethath, everyone, and open your eyes.

After you download the executable and install it, you will find the Picturefile app on your taskbar and in the programs section in the start menu. If you activated the account, you will be logged in by default and at startup. The amount of storage will appear in the app on the taskbar. You can also go to their website via a browser and login through there. I have logged out of the website and the app. I plan on logging in manually when I need to rather than be always on.

While this is a cloud storage for pictures, it also appears to be another social media site. I am a bit hesitant to store any pictures here because so many new social media sites go down after a short time and whether or not I can get my pictures back afterwards is a question. See

    [@Don] I just choose 5GB. From the app’s stats, I still received the 30GB.
