XP: Yes, installing on a fine XP Pro computer, still being used for other ebook software (not currently doing ebook work on later OS).
NET: Yes I have it; NET 4 came from Windows Update a long time ago.

Regardless, the setup program should check, and either install needed extra package, or report a better error.

    The same issue:

    “INSTALLATION INCOMPLETE
The installer was interrupted before Alfa eBooks Manager 5 could be installed.
You need to restart the installer and try again.
    Click “Close” to exit.”

Windows XP Pro SP3, .NET 4 installed.

    (ok, I’ll try again)

Julia expressed my own feelings. I have a lot of ebooks, many of them in epub format – so it should not have difficult to get the ISBN in their metadata – but scanning returned nothing. Then I tried to import my list of books from Goodreads, and the result was abysmal: fields are selected and applied at random, and I had to remove the db since it was useless. Even if Alfa did not know the semantics of the fields used by Goodreads, I would have expected that the software would have presented me a sample line, asking to put the fields in the correct position…

Hi, all EPUB files should have the standard metadata fields regardless of the site they were downloaded from
Could you please send a couple of your epub files to [email protected]

[@Alfaebooks] I stand corrected about the scan. The user interface tricked me: I have more than 1500 books, and when I noticed that the status was 0/900 I stopped the scan. Now I tried with a smaller set of 90 books, and I noticed that after scanning all of them the status went to 0/89 to 90/90. Books in PDF and DJVU format are often mislabeled, but I can stand it. What I still don’t understand is why import from Goodreads is so bad.
