So far this looks outstanding. Great capabilities for a good price.
I have used Macrium Reflect for many years, had a paid license, then when the price went up I saw the free version did most of what I wanted — very well. What I liked: able to set up backup jobs for partitions or whole disks, then access files in those backups by mounting the image file. No need for separate file backups, no need to restore an entire image just to recover a few files. Recovery environment, disk cloning / bootable media creation. Now they have stopped offering a free version, and the program is out of my price range. Sad, I liked and often recommended that program!
I found AOMEI Backupper a few months ago in another giveaway. It appears to do almost everything I could do with Reflect, at a much lower cost. I have not had to recover a partition yet, but I have mounted image files and was able to access documents, movies, music files, etc. Manual is clear and covers most questions. I don’t think it’s as fast as Reflect but still need to try some differential backups. All that’s missing is a way to run it from a batch file, so I can select and back up any of my 12 (!) partitions overnight, unattended. Reflect had that, and I made a simple command line tool that did everything. All I had to do was enter the letters of the partitions to backup, upper case for full backup and lower case for incremental.
