I didn’t bother to register it, but downloaded installer and extracted contents with innoextractor and ran the main executable but blocked it checking the license… did not seem to mind and did not seem to restrict my use or nag me to register… i found many of the things it whinged about were the contents of features i use and need… like browser histories and recently accessed files and frequently used programs… has option to disable so called telemetry services but does not name them so we cannot be sure it’s safe to do so so skipped that… has a list of telemetry server domains to block via hosts file so decided… safest option is to just do that. I’m not overly paranoid over microsofts telemetry as much of the data collection is useful to the end user, so better to just let the telemetry services and servers believe we are just offline. Yes I know they could hard code a server to be addressed by just an IP number if they want and maybe they do, I don’t know… I may have already blocked it by my firewalls outbound rules or not… I don’t really care, as I said I’m not that paranoid, I’m not that important to Microsoft or the NSA/CIA/MI5 state criminals.

No reports of any known threats.[@TK] After trying this and only applying the host file patching with telemetry servers to block them… next time I accessed a program on my mapped network share on my LAN I got a warning from windows that the location was not on my LAN and did I really want to access it… after a little investigation I found something changed my default wifi connection to a PUBLIC network instead of it’s previous setting which was PRIVATE! The only program I had run in the interim between shared mapped network drive access that messes about with systems internal settings was this! I cannot conclusively prove this software messed with my system without my consent but it’s the prime suspect…
So if your mapped network drives suddenly start warning you about accessing a location that is not on your private LAN at home or work, check the network connection to see if some badware has changed it from Private to Public without your permission… If you can repeat the software messing with your critical network settings without consent report it to where you got the software from and maybe submit the software to Microsoft windows defender team to consider warning/blocking the badware from running.
